the rebbe is not looking into the wine,(like said in the commentary)the rebbe is smelling the smoke of the candle,which is rising from the plate.(like many have the custom to do)

@@ΔήμοςΜετεώρων Many people have a custom to dip fingers in the spilled havdalah wine and touch it above the eyelids. It is based on Psalms 19:9, "the commandment of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eyes."

2000Betelgeuse It’s a matter of connection. Just try to do any “ancient” rituals whole heartedly for the sake of Almighty and you are there -HaShem gives you the sense of love and you will look at your own previous spiritual state with surprise. :-)

Now if you're not Jewish, that's fine. You don't have to like it. However if you are, I would suggest you study it in depth.. you may come to appreciate it.
