I really wish more modern day highschool ball highlights would embody what was captured here. Zoom out a bit so you can see the whole court, that way you can get a sense of how fast some of these players move. I have no idea why (apart from adding to a highlight reel) so many videos these days insist on zooming all the way on the action. This is clearly the best quality footage from Lebron's high school days right here, simply incredible.

People forget how hyped Lebron was. Imagine a high school kid on a magazine at 17 and is called “The Chosen One” and you see his name everywhere in newspapers, magazines, national television, and simply word to mouth. Lebron was selling out Arenas, games were on national television, and he had the comparisons of MJ and Magic. Some people said he’s the greatest high school basketball player they’ve ever seen. Lebron lead STVSTM to 3/4 Championships and also was a great football player and made All state in Ohio. Lebron was such a great athlete and he was 6’7 235 pounds as a senior and was in a grown man body at 18. He went into the NBA with the most hype and pressure ever and exceeded expectations. And Lebron did all this without social media.

Another fun fact: MD's DJ Strawberry held Lebron to 8-24 shooting and forced a number of turnovers. Still wasn't enough, though.
@chrisfrank2664 Жыл бұрын
I was hoping someone mentioned this. Maybe not enough, but during Lebron's High School being shown on ESPN, it was his worst game & not until DJ came to Maryland and became known for his intense defense that people went back and noticed he was the one defending Lebron in this game. He was a really tough kid, just the crap he dealt with from the crowd because of his father only helped his Mental Toughness!!! I loved him at Maryland with his intense Defense which really suited Gary Williams's pressing philosophy!!! I was in a class with him, the year he tore ACL & I tore Meniscus, so both of us were on crutches, which is how we started talking, and he was cool guy to talk to. Not just about Basketball or sports, but anything. He was really smart kid/young adult. He only played very little in NBA after drafted in 2nd round, but still made a long career playing in G-League & then around Europe.
