RARE: LEGO Spider Man "THE ORIGINS" Set 4851 Review (They Don't Make 'em Like This Anymore!)

If Lego ever get to remaster old Marvel sets (like Star Wars does a lot), this is the top of the list for what they should remake. It would be an awesome thing for them to remake using modern techniques, they could do a lot with the pieces introduced since. The helmet would be difficult, since they’ve likely destroyed the mold by now, but I don’t see why they couldn’t introduce a similar or updated one.

@@billybletsos4758 I agree, the Green Goblin helmet piece is like no other, probably one of the best they’ve ever made. The problem is they haven’t used it in ages, and when a mold isn’t really useable for multiple uses across multiple themes, they tend to retire or destroy it. We’ve seen this in the past, with Ant Man’s helmet. The original helmet from Civil War was completely different, as we all know. The modern helmet is the helmet piece originally used originally for Firefly from DC in a different colour and printing. This was done to save money, since it’s much cheaper and a lot more flexible. Same applies to Iron Man- the original helmet used since the introduction (though not gone completely) has been swapped in many sets for a more flexible and cheaper mold to use. Like in the advent calendar from this year, they use the modern printed design rather than the iconic flipping one. The helmet, I believe, has been used for a couple other Minifigures, mainly Wasp. This is especially likely when considering they lost the rights to Spider-Man since, it’s not completely impossible for them to have destroyed it. Hopefully they haven’t, they’ve bought molds back for sets before, but it’s not out of the question. We can all hope that _if_ they make an updated Green Gobbie minifigure, they are able to revive the original helmet, or at least recreate it.

@@PansyPops Yeah they should hopefully recreate it with a new mold. Yes, they did use that new Iron Man one piece helmet for Wasp in 2018. Look at the set Quantum Realm Explorers for Ant-Man and The Wasp. It's similar

(Honestly if they remake old spiderman sets, I hope they'll make a new mold for the green goblin helmet, because I never really liked the design of the lego helmet, I think they could do better )

The lab assistant's name is actually Dr Stromm, which is actually a hint for the comics, he was Norman's first business partner. This just shows how accurate to the comics was Raimi's Spiderman and why he is the best out of the 3, cool vid wish I was born earlier to pick it up...

I always wanted this set when I was little. However LEGO wasn't a big thing that time I was born the same year the movie came out. Though the builds are simple this set looks pretty detailed and absolutely amazing! I wish you could show us this large window piece up close. P. S. I think this Oscorp employee is Mendel Stromm.

Why is it that Lego can never remake a set like this?? I wanna see a new version of the Raimi Spider-Man figure and more flesh tone figures with new hairstyles. Maybe in 2022 for the first film's 20th anniversary?

I personally think that this is the best 2002-3 Tobey set minifig-wise. Its got every character you need that were available before Spiderman 2. it has MJ, Peter and Spiderman fig, Green Goblin, Norman Osborn and the other scientist that you can use to make Norman not shirtless. So in terms of minifigs, this is the best set

I remember I got into Spider-Man big time around 2004, maybe bordering into 2005, and at this stage Spider-Man 2 Lego was pretty much everywhere but I always wanted some Spider-Man 1 sets to go with it, especially because the Green Goblin was my favourite. I'll always remember Christmas morning waking up and screaming "GREEN GOBLIN, IT'S THE GREEN GOBLIN" and jumping into my parents room excitedly when I found that I had gotten this set, and my Dad said he was extremely lucky to find this because it was the last one available and old stock. Probably the best Christmas present I ever got

SO much nostalgia for this set. I was born in '98 so I was too young to even watch this PG-13 movie when it came out, but even then I was OBSESSED with Spider-Man. I remember all the marketing and everything for this trilogy of movies and Spider-Man has always been my favorite super hero. I think this was the first lego set I ever owned that came with minifigs. I still have everything today, albeit destroyed and spread out in different containers, but I do have Goblin and Spidey still fully in tact in their original forms to this day. An amazing set and it is unbelievable that all of that was just 30 bucks.

Oh dang, this is actually pretty sick. I really wanna get some of the Maguire stuff but dang it’s pricey. I saw one set for around $50 USD but it was only the little street chase set from 2004, plus most of the figures were missing. To be fair Spidey was still there, and alone he’s usually far more expensive. I’d really like to get the 2004 train rescue set but that one is just a real pain to find at a good price.

I got that Green Goblin for $10/$20 that had his pure green helmet in 2019 along with the gold helmet for a good price and I recently got the 2003 Spider-Man figure for a nice price.

@@MSalvadorStudios i got origins used for $250 and first chase for $220 new in box. i think origins is a better set but the first chase minifig is very desirable. def not cheap unfortunately but the good thing with these classic sets especially is that they hold their value if taken care of

Doubt anyone would be complaining if they absolutely milked Spiderman NWH dry Its the best excuse to revisit all the older movies and give them justice Like Spiderman's origin, Osborne's lab, the Train scene, an actual core reactor, Harry's house for when they fight in the 3rd one So much potential

I feel like they probably won’t spend that much time revisiting the older films (y’know, because they’re an entirely different kind of movies), although I did hear rumours about a couple special Tobey Maguire themed sets since this year marks the 20th anniversary of the original sets (and LEGO Marvel as a whole). Plus we’re already probably getting tons of figures based on those movies already in other sets so yeah.
