This audio was recorded by a friend of my dads back in 1984 at The Vineyard in Anaheim California. It’s a very raw and unplanned recording of a Sunday morning worship service, being led by Eddie Espinosa - the way it used to be.
In those days, worship leaders were taught, "It isn't about you, it's about Jesus. Your only job is to lead people to the Throne Room of God and then get out of the way". The term we used was, "Invisible Worship Leader". If you listen to the recording long enough, you can clearly hear this value being practiced.
If you would like to learn more, please comment below or subscribe to my channel.

How I miss the old Vineyard days in the 80's. My grandmother was an atheist until my aunt got saved and started attending vineyard with John Wimber. And when she died of cancer she died with a smile on her face. These were the best church days of my life with the best worship music ever made.

How I absolutely agree with you. I really miss those days. As one who is besotted with worship I find the so-called worship of today to be tepid and uninspiring and its more entertainment than anything else and these so-called worship leaders and pastors actually don't know the difference. I was part of Rhema in the 80's and it used to be a regular occurrence for actual deliverance to take place in worship without anyone praying for or laying hands on these people - that's how powerful the worship was. Thanks for that

John Wimber was the first person to challenge the organized religious system of the church while attending a Baptist church and then later others for which he did not agree with. Why you say? Because they didn't teach the whole truth.

Oh yes, I miss the old worship praise and worship music of old. This garbage I can't get with. This is beautiful. I miss these days so much. Every time I listen to this I feel like crying because these days are over. The churches are catering so much to this generation and now the music has lost is salt! I would love to belong to a fellowship where the praise and worship music of old was still treasured!

@@YhwhKhaiMostHigh Those days will likely see a renewal. I also remember those quality days of the 'invisible worship leader'. I also think our Father isn't really impressed with what is called worship today. I've been working on study of charismatic praise for going on 3 years now. I was attacked by a demon last summer unlike anything I have ever heard of or experienced. Please pray for me for strength as I battle health issues that have sidelined me for several months. A revival of true spiritual worship is coming - we just need to get ready for it as mentors to babes.

I cried when I heard this. . . I was a broken teenager who was captivated and healed by worship. We used to drive into Canyon High School in the early days back in 1978, 1.5 hours to get there from Palm Springs. We were healed in those early days just sitting in those worship services, and went on to lead worship over the years, still using some of these songs.

I had this exact same cassette. My dad went out to see Wimber in the early 80's from the East coast as a Catholic, and said he paid $5 for the recording- we were all changed forever because of John Wimber's teachings and the worship he brought to the world. From that church I was exposed to Paul cain, Bob Jones, John Paul Jackson, Mike Bickel, and am still blessed by them. Not bad for a Catholic boy:)

leftystrat62 so many anointed moments back then. I love the free form worship and I miss it. I'm considering a house church. I've been collecting all the old Vineyard Music to play there. Maybe those of us who were fortunate enough to be there in the formative years of the Vineyard are meant to bring back worship in spirit and truth to these last days.

It's frustrating how hard it is to find most of the early Vineyard songs.... Here's the song list in case no one else has posted it: I Will Call on the Lord The Lord is My Strength and My Song (Exodus XV) Thou O Lord art a Shield About Me (Lifter of My Head) I Come to Thee on Bended Knee (Give me more of Thee) Lord I want to be closer and closer to Thee Make Me a Servant (Make Me Like You) I'm Yours You are the Vine, We are the Branches I'll Say Yes, Yes, Yes I believe in You (Please take all of me) (Spontaneous singing) I Love You Lord Spirit of the Living God Fall Afresh on Me You are here and I behold Your Beauty

Hey Steven! Thanks for giving me a glimpse of my home...and believe me...I am so homesick! Glad my Pastor isn't here to see what has happened to our Fathers' worship. God has opened a door to teach and train worship, and street teams to work His very last and most evil days' harvest. He has handpicked us for this time and only He can make us ready as we worship Him on our faces like never before! I have never been so ashamed of musician brethren as now, and I have no desire to be on "stage" with the enemy's entertainment. The "church" is so fallen and too prideful to call His sanctuaries His church anymore. Our most loving and merciful Father's altars of worship and praise have been so perverted with pride, flesh, sexually immodest clothing. Where ever any of you are...fellowship with Him like never before...we have a job to do! One of the biggest is to intercede for our brethren to not perish in their ignorance...Father...forgive them for some know not what they do...and some know very well what they do...but don't care at all...let Your mercy intervene. I always solicit your prayers! As I am listening, I can see us all there at home worshipping together...then He responds with prophetic utterances, healing, singing in the Spirit and interpretations...Holy Spirit moving...but I digress...love you brother...God bless you!

I love this. You are right. The job of a worship leader is to praise the name of the Lord and lead people to the throne. I detest today's "worship". It is all about the people on the stage and all about the people worshipping. When "worship" songs are filled with "I" and "me", it is not worship. Praying about a movement bringing us back to biblical worship.

What a treasure! I remember Pastor John being asked to go and start something new from Pastor Chuck Smith, So glad He did. The Calvary's became more like Southern Baptist. No offence intended. Just dry and no movement of the Spirit. I remember Pastor John sharing that worship songs shouldn't be so much about the Lord, but to the Lord. The Anaheim Vineyard I believe met first in Yorba Linda. It was a great place for worship and fellowship. I miss those times. Thanks for sharing!

May God revive principles of the worship leaders of the Vinyard days. I wasn’t following a Jesus in 84, but I can sense pure worship of the people seeking God with no entertainment value as there seems to be in a lot of church worship services today. Even so, God is merciful and his presence is in many services that have an entertainment slant to worship. After all it’s about the heart of the worshiper and he alone knows our hearts.

@@moving-to-hawaii No it isn't just you. There is a growing hunger for a deeper walk with Jesus today. Mentors are needed - getting the 'church' leaders to change direction back to this level of worship will be difficult if not impossible. If you take a step out to lead you will likely see others join you. Seems like few people want to be the first to step out in faith but once someone else steps out they are eager to join. A warning though if you do step out - be prepared for strong pushback from the enemy. This level of worship is a serious threat to his kingdom.

It's the simplicity of worship! It's not that I want to go back, but I long for the days of simple intimacy with God. Anymore everyone has a formula and is extremely polished and are very good, but sometimes when you listen to this you wonder of we aren't missing a little something in our mainstream worship industry. But you have to remember mainstream churches and leaders were very much opposed to this sort of worship style because it was so different at the time. Institutions are afraid of intimacy.

Years ago, I was asked to lead the Women's Aglow, our Local Chapter, in Praise & Worship? Never did it before, was young in GOD. I went to HIM, asking HIM to help me. HE DID! In the mail came a CASSETTE from?? Never found out who sent it. IT WAS ALL ABOUT GOD'S PATTERN OF WORSHIP! ACCORDING TO THE TABERNACLE! It was NOT DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW! WE start in the Outter Court, singing about who we are & what we do as Christians. Then the INNER COURT! All about Our NEED OF HIM! THEN THE HOLY OF HOLIES! ALL ABOUT HIM!! WHO HE IS, HIS AWESOME NAMES, POWER, I AM THAT I AM, EVERLASTING TO EVERLASTING. THAT'S WHEN HE COMES IN ALL HIS FULLNESS. PEOPLE ARE TOUCHED, HIM MEETING THEIR NEEDS IN THEIR HEART, MIND & FLESH. NO ONE TOUCHES THEM. IT HAPPENS RIGHT WHERE THEY ARE. TODAY, THE SONGS HAVE NO PATTERN, THEY SOUND LIKE CHANTING, THEY RUN EVERYONE ALL OVER, BACK & FORTH THRU THE TEMPLE& BACK OUTSIDE AGAIN. THIS BRAKES HIS PRESENCE IF HE HAD SHOWED UP? WE ARE TO END IN THE HOLY OF HOLIES, STAY THERE AS LONG AS HE, THE HOLY GHOST IS PRESENT! NO LEAVING & RUNNING HOME FOR SPORTS, PARTIES, ETC. WHITH THAT DEGREE OF HIM, WE ARE NOT AT THAT TIME ON EARTH ANYMORE! NO ONE NOR ANYTHING SHOULD EVEN COME TO OUR MIND BECAUSE WE ARE IN CLOSED IN HIM. THEY HAVE MADE THE ALTER A STAGE. EVEN HAD THE "SHACK WRITER" WHO IS A "UNIVERSALIST" NAME BROUGHT UP & LIFTED HIS book up as FROM GOD??? This was an Associate Pastor? Prayer & Fasting Is Needed MUCH!

The days of true intimate worship seem to be gone. Even Anaheim Vineyard is not the same. Everyone always has to try new things so worship is so called better. Worship is to be us loving the Lord with are all. Music like this sure made it easier to draw near to Him. I pray as the flocks keep getting thinner and pastors wonder why that they would maybe let the Spirit of the Lord come back to the Church. The Holy Spirit wants nothing more than to come and be with us. Let Him come!!!!

I bought the All the Earth Shall Worship album at the Denver Vineyard bookstore in 1982 and played it over and over. I still have that album. John Wimber used to visit the Denver Vineyard regularly in the early 1980's and on one occasion he brought Lonnie Frisbee with him which is a time I will never forget. When we would go to So Cal to visit friends and family, we once dropped in on the Anaheim Vineyard on a weekday afternoon. While we were there, a grizzled Colorado mountaineer friend of mine got up on John Wimber's grand piano and started playing away. I doubt John would have minded. When were in SoCal we would also visit Costa Mesa and usually get there late and have to sit in the overflow room. Where did 40 years go?

Praise God for this music. Thanks for sharing it Steve. I'd love to receive a list of the titles so that I can search for lyric and chord charts.

Let our gatherings be open to the moving of God's Holy Spirit and not under the control of the Holy Man or worship lead/pastor; let's be messy and not a performance, but an act of love ...

I love this and miss it but I wonder if because life is moving so fast, even in church services, that a congregation would be able to sit and just gaze upon the Father while singing a love song to Him. I don't mean that as a judgement, I don't know if I could either. But, wow we sure need it!

Thanks so much! I can’t find some of these songs, and some songs sound much better when performed in a worship session compared to a studio. Can anyone tell me where to find the I come to thee On Bended Knee song ?

"It isn't about you, it's about Jesus. Your only job is to lead people to the Throne Room of God and then get out of the way" As we celebrate our 1 year anniversary, I am glad to say that this is what we have strived for and practiced since our inception. I'm looking for a recording of Eddie Espinosa's I Lift My Hands (Most of All). If anyone knows where to find that I would be deeply grateful for the information, Thanks!

It’s on KZbin from a recording from 1983 church service. Type in vineyard worship 1983. It’s from a cassette tape. There’s also a studio version on KZbin but I prefer the worship cassette version.

There is no reason we can't still use songs from any age in worship sets. I still use some from the 80's and 90's and even 1800's if they lead us to worship! I'll only use a new one if it works... of course I only do small group worship in a home, so... I can get away with doing what I want.

So thankful I found your site! I've been looking for some of these songs for a long time! We were there at the Vineyard back in the 1980's! Miss the honest, heartfelt worship so much!!! I have a question. I have part of a song playing in my head that I can't find anywhere. Maybe you remember it and can tell me the rest of it? The part I remember is "and my desire is that You know, I love You, I worship You, I welcome You here." Does that sound familiar at all? Thanks, Ruth

BTW, is it difficult to transfer audio cassette tapes to digital format? My wife visited Anaheim Vineyard in '82 and bought a live worship service on tape. Carl Tuttle is leading. We'd love to be able to upload and share!

StandNowOrFall It would be great if you could upload it. If you have a Mac (or access to one) then you can use a product called iMic which plugs into the headphone socket of a tape player and into the Mac. The software is easy to use and you play the tape and set the software on record to get an MP3 or other digital file. Or you can connect the headphone socket to the microphone socket on a Windows notebook and use the free software Audacity to record. There re KZbin videos about each of these. HTH

+StandNowOrFall I was wondering the same thing. I was there from 82-90ish and still have a few of the live worship tapes we recorded prior to" legal sanctions". I would love to get them on to the computer. I still pull out the old stuff to draw closer to His presence and have not found any other Worship that truely touches my Spirit!!!. God bless for posting!!

I know Carl. We are having a night of Worship for him at Southlands Vineyard in Brea on November 17th 2017. GOD IS IN THE MOVE and if you have a way to get there GET THERE! Carl is retiring from leading worship. Also if you have access to that tape please let me know!!! He has been on Amazon looking for his old stuff and found ONE and bought it for $50.00. This is Charis Chavez and I worked at Vineyard Music Group for years. You can find me on Facebook. Praying you get this and get in touch. Jesus is AMAZING!!! Oh how I LOVE HIM!!

Jacalyn Martin This is a compilation of several live worship services. But you can get a number of these a the apple store. The selection is getting thinner and thinner. I'm still searching for the 1980's recordings. Dang I miss being in the live atmosphere of the Vineyard.
