Judge, mujhe kahe ki Tumhara favourite singer Mohd.Rafi sahab guzar gaye following a cardiac arrest... I was shocked, taken aback...bahut roya and didnt go to school for a week. Mujhe aaj bhi yaad hai. Fir Rafi sahab gujar jane ke baad yani 1980 Se film dekhna hi chod diya. I watch out only old movies. Mere paas LP, EP aur Shellac records ka zabardast collection hai. Cassettes aur CDs (from Gaon ki Gori se Sargam 2) tak pura movie collection hai. My 1st choice is Rafi sahab. Rafi sahab ka Deewana hun.

Rafi sahab's voice was full of emotions needed for any genre, any song, any mood, any style. He was simply a gift of God sent to earth for our enjoyment. When I listen to his voice, whether it is from 50s or 80s, I feels like I am living in that ear or that the voice is guiding me in this current era. Many of these songs prove the undisputable supremacy of Md. Rafi Saheb over his contemporaries as well as all juniors. Though I feel that K L Segal and Rafi Saheb both were of the same level.

K.L sehgal sahab is gr8 no doubt.But i slightly differ in opinion here.Rafi sahab was more versatile in my opinion.Expressions,voice modulation etc Rafi sahab have an edge over others.Btw Thnx for ur comments sir.

@@rafisahab-godsownvoice6122 you are absolutely correct but if you try to catch the pitch of these two singers on harmonium, you will find that Sehgal Saheb could easily sing at least two notes lower than Rafi saheb. For example in Do naina matware tihare, search the note when he sings the line..jab hote ho tum us paar. In the same way search the high note in the song duniya rang rangili baba when he sings the line o naiya ke khene wale. However Rafi saheb was definitely more versatile but who knows that in Sehgal's era if tunes like ye aankhen uff u ma or diruban dil pe tu were created what K L Sehgal might have had done with them if off course agreed to sing them. This is why I place them at equal level.

No,I don't agree with you. Sehgals overall singing quality was poor compared to M Rafi.sing at high pitch or at low pitch isn't the issue.Matter is throw,turns and overall decoration with the exact emotion,which Rafi could do perfectly. Sehgals voice is mostly ordinary and unattractive.sorry!
