I listened to this with headphones in my bed, alone in my room, in the night. The experience was surreal. at 6:23, my heart was beating twice as faster, and I almost felt scared. And people say classical music is boring.

@@Ljmc_ there is classical music and within that there is the classical era (1730s-1820s). I think you think he's talking about the classical era but he's just talking about classical music. Impressionism is a style within the modernist era which is within classical music as a whole

I never would have thought this could be orchestrated. No, it doesnt quite capture the glistening shimmer of the piano but it has most of the color that Ravel would have used had he thought this work belonged in the orchestra

The picture depicted compliments the movement so well. A woman of the water beckoning a man to come to the water with her; it is almost as inviting as the music makes it seem! I much prefer the piano, but the orchestrated rendition rekindles what was already a light flame, if that makes sense. Thank you very much for the orchestral version ^.^

John William Waterhouse: "A Naiad - Hylas with a Nymph";) "The Naiad has just risen, nude, from the stream, and peers between the willow stems at a sleeping youth, who lies half covered with a leopard skin on the bank. Two green water-lily leaves confine the water-nymph's red tresses. Harmony of pink and green, relieved by blue light on the water. Large oblong picture." Ben Teague, I wish you the best of luck in orchestrating the remaining movements of Miroirs. Only please remember that what you turn out has to match stylistically the two movements that Ravel did orchestrate.

Naturally, I'll study lots of his own orchestrations before even attempting my own. He is the master in my eyes!
@alger304111 жыл бұрын
Once again, I wish you the best of luck with this project. I agree that it should be done. I hope that you succeed. Many others have failed at attempting to orchestrate a work of Ravel in his own manner (i.e., a version of his Trio I heard many years ago). The transcriptions I've head thus far of Noctuelles and La Vallee des Cloches are furtive at best, hardly compatible with what Ravel would have done. There is a version of Oiseaux Tristes which is actually acceptable, but there is room for improvement even here. Again, see how wonderful Constant's treatment of Gaspard de le Nuit is, so that only points out, it can be done!
@alger304110 жыл бұрын
EvanFingerstyle. it takes many, many years to become innately familiar with a composer's inner individualities so that one can attempt a transcription like this. It is more than a matter of what instruments he uses.

It appears too slow, and at many places, instead of staccati we need a flow ie., something more horizontal; it's really too bad since at the piano the goal is to reach some sort of continuity that other instruments allow (eg., strings), but here in this version the natural instruments are cutting the flow and make it more pianistic, percussive.

musiques trop fragile pour etre orchestrée malheureusement!!! elle perd en intimité , en agogique et les effets en sont outranciers
