Last time the Packers went into the season with a ? at QB I was a shitkid freshman in HS lol. Grew up in Milwaukee & 1989 is one of my favorite yrs as a Packer fan. The first year I got it...never understood the love for the Packers being born in 77 until the Cardiac Pack of 89. So Majkowski holds a special place in my heart. Ironically my first game at Lambeau (went to a few at County Stadium in the 80s) was in September of 1992...my mom took me to the game vs Cincinnati. Low and behold I just so happened to draw the luck of being at the game when a legend was born. A lame Majkowski needed to be relieved from injury & the rest as they say was hi-sto-ry. Pack was down 23-10. T-Toast Terrell Buckley took a punt to the house to cut it to 6. Then Favre threw Kittrick Taylor what might be the only TD of his career lol. Beer was spilling from high 5s all around ya. It was absolute pandemonium. I still get goosebumps just typing it. An experience I'll never ever forget

@@americanarbitragecards Majik could never recapture the magic of 1989. He had a few years in Indianapolis with Lindy Infante after he left GB when the Pack hired Holmgren. Full disclosure most of us were booing Favre lol. He was a little wild early but settled down eventually. No matter what Packer fans want to say in hindsight alotta folks weren't thrilled they traded a first round pick for a guy drafted at the start of the 2nd round from a school with zero history of producing NFL QBs. Some folks were calling for Ron Wolf's head before the season started

The Packers becoming relevant again after a few decades in no-man's-land was thanks to Ron Wolf. He hired Holmgren, convinced Keith Jackson to do the unthinkable & came out of retirement to play in GB of all places, acquired Sean Jones & Eugene Robinson, drafted the likes of Chmura, Freeman, Brooks, Levens, Bennett, picked up Rison when Brooks & Freeman got hurt, had the vision to see the greatness in Favre who was the reason the Packers were able to knock off Reggie White & the Philadelphia Eagles who were battling for the top seed in the NFC in 92 that ultimately led to Reggie seeing the Packers as a legit up and coming contender which is why God told him to sign with GB. Sure it was Holmgren leaving a message on Reggie's answering machine pretending to be God but it makes for a great story lol. For years before they hired Wolf the Packers were wasting year after year trying to relive the glory days hiring Bart Starr & Forrest Gregg as coaches. Old Rob Wolfie got the ship back on course only to have the likes of Ted Thompson and this guy they have now Gutenkunst screw things up repeatedly. I'm grateful for the 2 championships I got & I don't anticipate any more unfortunately
