Their are several .12 gauge shotgun suppressors, and recently one was made to be available for the civilian market of the US. They are fairly large, bulky, and screw into where you removable chokes screw into. They have made suppressors for .410 Caliber shotguns, but most are made for a .12 gauge, and the one everyone has seen recently is the Silencer Co Salvo .12 gauge Shotgun Suppressor. In close quarters a suppressor makes sense, especially in a building or hallway or any room. Instead of blowing out your ear drums in a building or vehicle, you now have a suppressor to remove most of the unwanted noise. However shotguns suck with suppressors. Their range is dropped, point of impact has changed and velocity of ammunition decrease much more quickly. Suppressors only work if you snipe long distances, having a shoot out in enclosed spaces, and that's pretty well all. Suppressors suck in the real work, except like I said, sniping and CQC is the only recommended time to use them. Oh and the shotgun from No Country For Old Men was a semi automatic sporting shotgun fitted with an actual threaded barrel, and an oil can filter suppressor. Thats actually very easy to do, however make shift suppressors die off really quick. A pump action or lever action shotgun with a suppressor is completely retarded, mainly due to you having to manually cock your gun, creating noise that even with a suppressor eliminated the use of a suppressor. Like you racking the pump or lever will be louder then the gun shooting subsonic ammo. It would be cool in a video game, just in real life its fucking useless on most shotguns. Only shotguns like the Saiga .12 Gauge should have an attachment. Magazine fed, semi automatic and well built, yeah that could use a suppressor and be stealthy. But the SPAS-12, which in real life blows, the M870, and shotguns like a Mossberg 500 would be incredibly stupid to have a suppressor on.

although the reload would make noise the SPAS12 can work in semi auto so it does have that going for it so it makes it more usefull than the 870 and Mossberg 500. what i heard about the SPAS12 have been good with the availability between Semi and pump,mag cutoff, and with the hook on the folding stock it can make it easier for one handed shots if the situation rises. unfortunetly it died from the assult weapons ban because of the things that made it uniqe at the time and its law enforcement contracts wasn't enough to keep it alive.

+Bitis11nasicornis Many faults here. Suppressors are NOT mainly used for sniping, they can be used but it would just be for flash hiding effects. The velocity of ammunition is limited from the start, but does not decrease at faster rate after fired. The point of impact does not have to be changed. A shot from a subsonic round is WAY louder than cycling rounds. A suppressor is not useless, it makes the shot quieter. +Grey Stash Most shells sit in between 1300 -1500 fps(feet, not frames lol) with sub being at around 1000fps.

You can put a suppressor on anything, however, anything above .22 won't be muffled as videogames suggest. Suppressors aren't not meant to suppress the sound but rather the aim. If you use low calibre rounds, it also suppresses the sound. It's actually cool how a .22 pistol sounds with a suppressor on it.

BO2 does silencers for shottys and the way they balance it is by having more desirable attachments be the long barrel (sort of like heavy barrel) that extends the range at which you get an OHK and then have the silencer do the opposite, and since you already loose the benefit of the long barrel the effect is pretty severe (ohk range ~= knifing range), you don't see many people going for a silence shotty unless it's one of the auto shottys where one hit kills aren't as important.

it is technically impossible to suppress a shot gun if it is using buck shot, flechette, or 12g explosive rounds because inside a suppressor there are several chambers that are used to take in the gasses that propel the rounds. If you use a suppressor on a shot gun that is using buck shot shells, as soon as the pellets would move into the suppressor chambers they would spread and get caught in the suppressor. Thus you can only use slugs with a suppressor seeing as they are more like a bullet.

Suppressed shotguns are quiet enough that you can fire them without hearing protection. That's it. They are not silent, they aren't even quiet. Giving them the same bonus as a silenced 9mm pistol would just be totally unrealistic. So I'm one of the few who thinks DICE is doing the right thing not adding shotgun suppressors.

Shooting shot through a suppressor will ruin your baffles, so basically running a suppressor will limit you to using slugs only. That would be one downside to using suppressor I could think of. (I have no idea what frag rounds are supposed to be, so maybe you can shoot the through a suppressor too. If they're breaching rounds, then they should go through a suppressor, too.)

I primarily play 24/7 Noshahr TDM. I'd say that the average distance when engaging an enemy is roughly 20-30 meters. The M16A3 (and A4) shine at that distance. For me, the M16A3 is a nuisance, especially because I primarily play as the Support Kit.

the specialization i missed in bf 3 was the increased explosive damage. it was in bad company 2 and it helped to take out tanks much faster, in bf3 it feels like i'm shooting spit balls at tanks if i'm using the sam or rpg.

Assuming we're talking real firearms - You can't put a suppressor on a revolver(unless it's one of the Nagant Revolvers with the special gas-seal cylinder) because the revolving cylinder of the revolver needs space to turn. The gas will escape out the side of the gap between the cylinder and barrel before it reaches the suppressor and will still make a loud noise. If you wanna see something really cool, look up a video of a Suppressed Nagant revolver.

Actually all SPAS-12 shotguns are selective between pump and semi-auto and are civilian legal. There are variants such as the LAW-12 Semi-only and the SAS-12 Pump only versions though the military and law enforcement typically use the pump action mode since it is more reliable for different power loads (where a semi action either won't cycle from a light load or be damaged from a hot load).

Love the silenced until a certain range idea. I personally think that should be for every weapon. Maybe have some sort of "aggrometer" on it so that as you fire longer bursts the more the detection range increases. My intent is that this would mean that someone double-tapping a bloke with a silenced pistol would be completely invisible, while the support firing off boxes of ammo would be totally noticeable.

....Slugs are heavy ass rounds, they do drop quickly due to loss of speed because of the round's mass, and suppressed weapons usually are also usually using subsonic rounds to make the weapon even more silent, thus decreasing the speed at which the round travels, slow ass round + slow ass travel time=Range of buckshot. It's really that simple. Buckshot=Standard shotgun round that fires up to 20 rounds when shot, it spreads really quickly as well.

hmm, but that's just one projectile...with the choke you maintain medium range effectiveness but you don't have to worry with the single slug much rather you can still fire your buckshot or flechette and maintain effectiveness beyond your usual effective range...as in you still have the spread so you don't need to worry about accuracy as the shotgun is intended instead of using slugs which makes it a one bullet boomstick which may put you at a disadvantage

I would absolutely ADORE a suppressor on my shotguns. I think the cost of hipfire along with extended mags would make up for the added stealth factor. They do, however, need to make other attachments for guns more appealing instead of the obviously essential things like foregrips for assault rifles and extended mags for machine guns and shotguns. Depending on how the barrel is set up it may or may not have a shit load of kick. Also it is somewhat possible to make an assault rifle that shoots .50 caliber rounds. It will be pretty heavy and bulky but it is possible.

Probably the simplest way would be to thread the outside of the end the barrel and attach a silencer. Though I'm not quite sure you'd really want to in real life. I don't think it would have much of an effect on the sound suppression. Not for practical use at least.

if they make a suppressed shotgun, it has to be a single slug or bullet shotgun, not a multiple which would not actually be the point of a shotgun (realistically that is). prob with adding a suppressor, it needs to be a barrel extension instead of actually a suppressed gun which would make actually no sense except to extend the range of the gun

the choke may be easier to use but if you feel confident with your aim slugs are better even though they are a high risk ammo also about 90% of shotgun users use extended mags and you might have to trade them them if you want to use the choke while with slugs you just switch ammo.it is a good idea though :)

Levelcap actually addressed this in one of his loadout vds, where there's a hot debate over which gun is actually better. Personally, love them both. If i'm not running these two ARs, it's because I'm using the SCAR-L or the M16A4

Having a suppressor on a gun is in RL only effective at range, the closer you are to the origin the more audible the shot becomes regardless of the modification to the weapon being fired.

A properly built 1911 works best with a suppressor and yeah I have heard a .45 ACP 1911 shoot under 30 decibles with supsonic ammo. However this 1911was a custom build and was as butter smooth as a lever action. You heard the casing hit the ground and barely heard the gun. Although I totally agree, they were made for long range but also close range. Like building and room to room fights. They use suppressors to eliminate the unwanted noise from shooting a gun in a hallway blowing out the soldiers eardrums.

+Bitis11nasicornis The reason .45 ACP is so good with suppressors is because most .45 ACP rounds are already subsonic and the rounds are large, so they do significant damage even at slower speeds. They are definitely not best suited for long range, as the low velocity would yield even lower energy at long range and you would have to compensate much more for bullet drop.

What if the suppressor were to reduce the weapon damage in a way (like take 2 pellets off of the amount shot) and limit your use to Flechette and Buckshot rounds

If it is a slight change which ok i will agree will be slightly interesting inside the game, wouldnt it be better for them to focus there reasorces on other elements of the game like creating winds in the game affecting bullet flight over range and the behaviour of planes and helicopters

I personally think that a Famas that shoots .50 cal bullets would be an awesome weapon, its not realistic though obvs as long as it still functioned like a does at the mo and not have like break your arm off kickback
