@@retrohighfights3008 he didn't fit the 'american way' being from Panama and all. Duran , at the time, was never treated like, even the good american fighters. Duran held the title for years and was one of, if not the best fighter of the times. They shrugged him off as a brawler, with not many skills, just overwhelming others. Now that Duran's career is over, he is looked at as one of the best, all time. People now realize how great he was, but at the time, he wasn't regarded in that light. American media wanted to push American fighters, Latino's were looked at as second tier fighters.

Duran was the clear winner that night. Many of Leonard’s late-round flurries were either blocked or sailed over Duran’s head. Duran landed the harder blows and forced the fight all the way. Sad that some of the fans in this video showed a complete lack of respect for Duran’s ability, and thus showed a lack of knowledge of the sport itself.

Its incredible that a person in a Boxing Gym can say Duran is a Club boxer and not to smart. He has on that time already more than 80 fights won. Complete the opposite of what this men said. Its a tendendy to underate the bigger punchers like him. He had it all: punch power, strength, boxing skills, courage, fearless..

Love the comments about roberto 'made for leonard', and not too smart...lol how history proved them all wrong...turned out he's regarded as one of the , if not thee smartest fighter of all time. Made for leonard?...he knew how to fight Leonard, and basically all 'boxers'...by relentless pressure, which is exactly how you do them..no room to breath, use their jabs at will. THAT'S how to beat boxers. this was a guy whom knew what and when you were gonna throw, as seen in the blocking of Leonards punches at the end of the fight...he was that damned smart.
