My uncle. Ran over hundreds of hand guns in Germany after the war with a tank. He kept a few of them.

Hey Tom, your passion for firearms (especially Walthers, Lugers and Mausers), just shines through; your willingness to share information for free is truly endearing. I am a prospective Canadian firearms donor (to be rescued 😭😢 - sad) when the time finally, comes! Love your work and self-deprecating humor! Great job!

I have a 1941 made special order p38. Hp model, 99% high gloss, with no slide legend. 1941 dated eue converted p08 holster. WaA300, 2 mags and picture of my uncle holding it and bottle of cognac he found in the bunker in Germany. Have the bottle of cognac yet too. That's rare.

Watching this has me even more intrigued about my own P.38. I'll have to give it a closer look. The only thing I know is it's a war bring-back (my grandfather was a Canadian tanker during WW2) so its value is more sentimental than monetary. Provided big daddy government doesn't ban them outright **insert eyeroll here**. Definitely have me curious, though. :)

My God, this company has all kinds of models, and for all kinds of German government bodies, being a Nazi from Walther, Moser, and Luger, this is incredible, which means that the truth is that it is the most beautiful and valuable collection of classic weapons up to this day.

Apparently there is a website or two out there where the owner has a serial # list for the purpose of uniting the # mag back to its frame. I read in a gun forum the other day where a fellow used it and actually bought the matching mag for his gun from a fellow half way across the country. I think it was a Japanese pistol though but still quite a good thing.

Were there ever any 7XXXX 5-digit P38's? I have what are the supposed bringback papers for the P38 my grandfather acquired during WW2, but I could never find a reference to 5 digit serials that began with 7. I believe the final digit is a 2, not a series letter as one would expect. All I really know is that grandpa sold his P38 to a collector in the 1970's. He brought back a few other unknown pistols as well, so the paper may be for some .38 cal gun of another model.

Ac41 is just as important as an ac40. Eastern front and early war. 43,44,45 to me are common ones. And markings to me don't make up for one that was early made in 40,41.

@@tomhenry897 I thought the '68 law was just a ban on smaller guns like the Walther PPK, which is why the PPK/s was made in order to be big enough to import.

Nothing like a P38 video to make me stand up and take notice. Do you test fire your merchandise upon receiving? I obtained a P38 Spreewerk bring back from my father and was told that some guns were boobytraped with filed down slides that would detach when fired harming the shooter. That was of course BS in hopes I would give the storyteller my artifact no questions asked so no one would be harmed. I go to the range every two months putting about a box though it every time. I know it lowers the value but it’s just so fun to shoot!

"waffenamt" unlike the US military the germans handed out pistols to any soldier that wanted one. Filling that demand was mission impossible so they'd use pistols of all types from all over europe, occupied and some neutral imports aas well like Astras from Spain. I had a cyq that looked pretty normal. All blued and just a shooter. P:retty P-08! Lugars weren't produced after 1942. Both are 98%, 99% with only a tiny bit of holster ware on the lower back. The 1937 of course was a peace time handgun which gave the factory more time to complete the finishing work. I don't believe that S/42 was a factory code.
