Glad to help. The key is to used dried castings that are not fresh in my opinion. Distilled water is great too.

curiosity-Hi, from where do you expect to see the new growth (there are two parts)?if the new growth emerge, and it looks like one of the two mother plants, do you remove the new growth completely or you leave some nodes (of new growth) ? thank you

Julio said he pruned the new growth until it looked different. I want to try this graft and remove all the thorns to see if a new hybrid growth will shoot out of the top.

I dont see how this graft can work. Not in general but in your situation. To have a successful chimera graf I think you should concentrate on the growth tip. This is the point where the cells have the best chances to mix. Or maybe chose fat triangula stems and cut them in a plan passing trough the areoles and hope for chime offshoots.

I agree, this is likely to not work, but another key is to have a soft and undeveloped core. It's too cold in my climate to do that right know, but it's something I plan to do in the spring when I have a lot of young material to work with.
