My first phone with a built-in camera. I'd put aside the phone with a detachable camera I'd just gotten from Sprint when the Sanyo SCP-5300 debuted in late-2002. My best recollection as to when I bought this is October 2002. This was back in a time when someone taking or placing a call in public was still something of a showstopper. My coworkers were interested in my new phone and I took pictures of anyone who wanted to be photographed. Some asked if I could send the picture to them in an email. I found that I could send it that way if I uploaded the pictures to my account on Sprint's website. This experience prompted me to setup an email account and get a laptop computer. Exciting times when I think about it now.

@DominckSwakon I believe you. My recollection is a bit faulty. I do remember bringing the SCP-5300 to work with me that afternoon when I first had gotten it. I took pictures of my co-workers (anyone who was interested) and later sent a copy from my Sprint account via email. Sending pictures via text came a little later because a lot of earlier phones didn't have the capability of receiving photos via text. That would all change quickly as we came to know. In the fall of 2003, I bought a pair of Sanyo SCP-5500s for my girlfriend and I. At that point, we could send pictures and 15 second video clips to each other. Best wishes and thank you for correcting the record!

Thank you so much for the memories! My most memorable memory though did not involve the camera. Tragically, it was the Columbia space shuttle disaster. I was with a dozen friends and one of us got a call about the disaster from his mom. We were on an airport tarmac where we were working and could not access a computer with internet. I pulled out my phone and said, "I might be able to get CNN website on this." It took some time while we huddled around waiting for the page to load but it was eventually confirmed by that amazing piece of technology.

This is a pretty cool cell phone, man! When the Toy Box tone started and the two rolls of the snare drum played it kinda reminded me of 20th Century Fox. Great video! I loved it! :)

drive.google.com/folderview?id=1S5o11KysEyjsuT03RiSO76hEq8imXs5I Have you tried these programs with your firmwares? WinRipper 0.78a: Can extract MIDIs, WAVs, RIFFs, and other sound files (excluding MP3s) from firmwares. You'd have to use MultiExtractor to get the MP3s. To play the *.QLCM files, use Audacity with the FFmpeg libraries. FWEditor 1.0.4.17: a program for extracting MMFs from firmwares. Some phones have MMF sounds in their firmwares. Yamaha MidRadio Player 4.5.4: a program for playing Yamaha MMF (SMAF), MIDI, WAV, MP3, etc. files.

You have to download the .zip file, then extract it, then you can play the .midi files using Windows Media Player or PSMPlayer.

Hey..I found this exact phone in my Mother's things..It's in really good shape..are these worth anything??
@RareNogginStuff2 жыл бұрын
I'd say so. They are pretty rare, and I've only seen a few pop up on eBay now and then. I got this one in December 2013. You could sell it if you wanted, but I would honestly just hold onto it, considering it was your mother's, and I always hold onto my parents' old phones (e.g. the Samsung SPH-A620s, the Sanyo Katana LX, the Sanyo SCP-3100, etc.). This was the first ever camera phone for the US market, so it was quite revolutionary, but it was also really expensive to get from Sprint, which is why I think they are rather rare.

I have 4. 3 from college 2 in peices. One I bought a battery but my child spilled juice on it. So ut won't charge. I want to take the photos off of it but don't know how. I would be will to rent/buy/trade just to get a charge on this battery. So I can at least check it out

Can you do a direct recording of the actual Sanyo 8300 startup/shutdown tones?
@RareNogginStuff4 жыл бұрын
@@TheSovJ drive.google.com/open?id=1i6oajQCGQJWjiDN5jGjDlO2ply-FU1EL I can't do Katana right now, because even though I have 2 Katanas, it requires a special adapter for the headphones which I don't have. It uses the same startup/shutdown as the 8300 anyway.
