I just discovered y'alls channel and I love it. I'm really hoping to get more into bottle digging and such in the near future.

Thanks for the tour! Places like that are treasures troves for information. We found old stagecoach trails, resting spots and to change out horses. Building’s are long gone, but if you can find a foundation great place to start metal detecting. This was a stagecoach rout from Carson city stopping at the San Fernando mission, then continuing on to stony point in what’s now Chatsworth were Pancho Villa and other Bandido’s stood atop stony point do to it being the highest point and proximity to the Wells Fargo stagecoach rout. Many a stagecoaches were robbed throw the Santa Susanna pass. Many times fires would rage through the area, reveling more little stop areas, which could be a bathroom pit stop and bring up water from the creek running down below. Metal detectors have found broken Wells Fargo locks and a few old keys. A what looked to be a colt 45 was found in the creek, and a metal detector happened to signal on a big ole oak tree. The crack in this was (shush) split open. In side was a double barreled shot gun and the stock was completely eaten by termites, and was well rusted. Most of these items were taken to the mining shop for display, where all of our equipment was purchased. Some of these antiques have grown legs and disappeared. Grrr. Most of the rest of the wagon trail has been lost to private land and agriculture fields.

I've come across other old bridges with that same mound in the middle. As I understand it, the mounds was put in place after the road was closed in an attempt to preserve the bridge for more years than it would otherwise have lasted.

At the 4:45 Mark when you show the old photo of the town did you ever wonder where all the people of that town are? I could not see one person or horse anywhere. You know they didn't all sleep in that morning.

It's good to see the rare bottles and artifacts stay in the area of their origin, whether they're in a public museum or a private collection. It helps keep interest alive in local history. How many known specimens are there of the Bessemer Coke hutch? Have you ever found a broken one or fragments? Nice museum.

Cool bridge. 1915. Believed to be the first concrete bridge in your state. A lot of earthen fill has washed away. That big jump would have been under dirt in model T times.

I found an old train bridge in the middle of the woods by looking on Google maps. I've always wanted to go check it out but I don't know who's land it is and people here in the south are pretty territorial about there land. lol. I don't want to get shot.

Brandon, if you are able to do it without investing too much time and effort, I would really like to know the military organization of the person who recovered that typewriter from "The Eagle's Nest." I was able to pause the video and see that the German helmet was brought back by Mark Haney (he might have been part of the same unit, but there is not enough of the display visible to determine if typewriter came from the same source as helmet). My late father was a heavy machine gunner (MOS 605) in C Company, 163rd Engineer (Combat) Battalion. The 163rd were special troops. As such, they were used where and when needed; attached, sometimes just in company units (perhaps even platoon or smaller elements, though I have no evidence of that yet) to various other organizations through the course of WW2 in Europe. The battalion itself landed on Utah beach just days after D-Day. At the invasion, they were with 1st Army; from the Normandy Breakout with 3rd Army; and with 7th Army from Battle of The Bulge through the end of the war. Dad's C Company were attached to the 45th Infantry Division at the liberation of Dachau. I first learned of Nazi concentration camp horrors from my father's firsthand account of what he'd seen and smelled there as a member of the liberating force. My father was quite open and spoke candidly about most of his military service during WW2, and about his service with the United States Constabulary (occupation forces) during a post-war reenlistment. I always listened enthralled to his stories, but I was not a military buff who pestered for details during my youth. Dad would usually just mention his "outfit" or "unit" and not specify whether he was talking about battalion, company, platoon or squad. I am trying to learn if his C Company were among the 163rd Engineer Battalion troops who were present at The Eagle's Nest. While acquiring war trophies was not part of their official duties, recovering intelligence in the form of maps and other documents was. That function even extended to using their knowledge of explosives and demolition to open vaults and safes during such searches. I guess loot obtained in the process was one of the unofficial fringe benefits of the job. 🤔
