Duncan is in my top 5 as well but I don't see how that effects Popovich being all time great coach. Pop has made countless players significantly better and been as consistently successful as any coach ever. Most wins regular season, 2nd most playoffs, and most combined. Tied for 2nd most championships and has the 5th highest win % of any coach with 10+ seasons I mean Jackson had Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and then Kobe and Shaq, and then Kobe and Gasol, he never had a season where he didn't have a top 10 player of all time to put that into perspective. When Pat Riley coached the Heat and they didn't have a ton of talent outside of Wade they were terrible as well. The idea that a good coach is supposed to overcome a complete lack of talent of on a roster is absurd. Also Popovich still had the Spurs contending after Duncan for a few years and then a near 50 win playoff season after getting rid of Leonard too.

Thunder are a bad example because OKC had one of the quickest rebuilds in sports history because of the insane amount of assets they were able to trade for. They got an MVP candidate in SGA, JWilliams, Chet, Dort, Giddey, Joe, Wiggins, Wallace, and a bunch of other picks. And they were pretty mediocre for a number of years. Pretty unfair to compare them to a team with a lot less assets and being comprised of Devin Vassel, Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan, Zach Collins, etc... And Memphis improved by 1 win with Ja the first year and missed the playoffs. They also then picked up JJJ, Bane, Adams, Vale, Clarke, Jones, Melton, Brooks, etc.

Pau and Marc were never close to being MVP caliber players. They have 1 All NBA first selection COMBINED in their 31 seasons. Jokic has 4 in just 9. Jokic has been the best player a championship team and the FMVP. Pau was 2nd best on both of his and Marc was like the 5th best on his and both we of course never FMVP either... Jokic averages 30-11-9 since breaking out in 2019 against Rudy Gobert (3x DPOY, maybe 4 after this year) Averages 22-11-7 against Embiid who's an MVP himself and All Defensive center. Marc was also a very good defender. They had great basketball IQ and understood the game playing the right way. Dirk would have been a better comparison, but I think the Joker might have already surpassed him too

They might have semi similar skill sets in terms of what they're good at but the skill gap is big and how they play is fundamentally different from Jokic. Jokic isn't just the best passin big ever, he's one of the best passers ever overall. He's been averaging more apg the past couple years then Pau and Marc did in there best seasons COMBINED. His career average in ppg and TS% are higher than either Marc or Pau's best seasons ever. He's definitely already passed Dirk in terms of prime/peak, only thing Dirk has on him now is longevity and even then I don't think I'd use that to warrant him over Jokic at this point especially if Jokic gets another MVP/championship this year.

Pop knows how to draft, he knows how to develop stars, he knows how to manage players, he knows how to make mediocre players look like stars in a system that produces wins and championships. Spurs were bad this year because their best player is a rookie... you can chose any coach in history and they are not leading a team with a rookie best player, and a supporting cast of Devin Vassel, Keldon Johnson, Julian Champagnie, Tre Jones, Jeremy Sochan, etc to any significant amount of wins in a stacked West. The point Rashad was making was trash and has absolutely no validity if you know anything about good coaching. Pop has the most regular season wins, 2nd most playoff wins, 2nd most championships, and most wins total for a reason. He's made countless amounts of players significantly better. Parker, Ginobili, Kawhi, Murray were developed into stars because of him. He revitalized DeRozan and Aldridges careers. Or look at the mediocre at best guys that Pop and his system gave career years to: Danny Green, Gary Neal, Boris Diaw, Tiago Splitter, Matt Bonner, Jonathan Simmons, Dewayne Dedmon, Bryn Forbes, Kyle Anderson, Patty Mills, Marco Belinelli. The 2014 Spurs are arguably the best coached team of all time and a top 10 team of all time with no real superstar. He lead the Spurs to 2 playoffs when Kawhi was out all of 2018 and then again when they traded him in 2019. Then they were a play in seed in 2020 (before the play in was introduced), 2021, and 2022. Spurs have only been really bad for 2 years and last year they were obviously just tanking and this year was more about experimenting and prepping Wemby for the NBA.

Most people who aren't overtly fan boys probably have him in the 6-12 spots so top 15/top 10. That's quite a bit different than what Rashad is saying. Jokic is 2x MVP and best player on a championship team. Gasol bros were never close to that. Could be the case but it's a moot point considering the argument at hand. When Iggy won FMVP the Cavs didn't have Love or Kyrie and still went to game 6. The Cavs might have won without injuries. But for real Iggy was never close to Kawhi prime or career wise. Maybe a good comparison would be 14 Kawhi and 15 Iggy but prime Iggy is no where near the player prime Iggy was.
