Holy shit. Doing this against fulltime highsalaried professionals as a 16year old is so amazing i cant describe it with words.. I watched Erik Karlsson in the same stage, and i can easily say Dahlin is better.. the talent on this kid is unbelievable, but he is still young and things can change especially during those years. But i truly believe he can be one of the best swedish players when he is 22+. Worth the #1 pick right now? Hell yes.

He reminds me so much of how Jonathan Drouin played in junior (Halifax QMJHL). Drouin toyed with players as a forward, but its more impressive when a dman can do it.

I saw him this juniors and quickly caught up on youtube. The kid is absolutely sensational, some shifts he is the best player on the ice. He never gets dirty goals either, not that he has scored that much at 16 years of age in the Swedish elite league, but his goals and points are quite gorgeous and he seems to be the organizing force behind all this flashy attack when he is on the ice. He masterminds it. His defense is generally considered way above average for his age but he still blunders badly defensively. He is not perfect, far from it. He does seem to learn quickly though and the upper limit is currently unknown. The potential here is staggering. But as always .. defenders are tricky .. they usually mature after 25 and peak at 28 or so. And one should always pick a forward, particularly centers, before any other position. Unless it is just fucking obvious who is best and if it is Rasmus Dahlin I would not be surprised at all. Still a year away though. :) Also, it would be an interesting change for once to have a defender as first pick and see the Paul Coffey/Erik Karlsson style get a nod. If it works out perhaps we will be talking about the Rasmus Dahlin style of defense in ten years. Cheers :)

@@AbesamisM I do. Sorry if I was vague but this was more from a stylistic perspective. you could probably make the case for makar with how he is through the neutral zone too. However, I dont think makar is of Orr's ilk as much as dahlin has shown to be. Especially in settled play, there are very few guys that can invert offenses and attack the net on a vertical plane in the nhl. Dahlin is one of the few. Of late, Shea Theodore has also looked awesome in this respect.
