I AM LEGEND! But I have still not learned to meet your homework video request. I had to refer to several old lessons to make all these gadgets work, but amazingly I did it. Thanks for all these most-excellent lessons, Paul.

Another great lesson, and a good challenging homework assignment. My program is working! I am ready to watch the next lesson to compare my approach to yours.

NOO! I just disassembled the LCD, dht11 and push button for this lesson and now I have to wire them all up again for this homework :-(. This should be a fun and challenging homework, can't wait to have a go at it!

Thanks Paul. Appreciate all that you do in creating these videos. Anxious to see the RPi Pico series start. It's (PicoW) going to be an Arduino replacement, for sure!!

great lesson, Paul.. hmmm interesting / challenging homework assignment... looking forward to applying all the coding that we have previously been exposed to ... . hope that the fire was far-enough away so as not to affect your grass-roofed home...

I am legend. Didn't take me long, but Thonny makes me a cheater because it's so easy to cut and paste and I had left my ADC set up on a separate board, along with the pot and the wires were still there for the dht so... scavenged some of my code and a little tweaking. My life greatly improved when I remember to stop the PWM for the siren after each run thru.😂Great lesson combing the other projects

Have you ever covered how to use a raspberry pi to monitor the pins on another micro controller like an Arduino uno? Like if a pin on the Arduino goes high, then do X thing on a pi. I know that's kind of niche thing, but I'd be interested in a video about that if you ever want to tackle that topic or point me to a video that already covers that.

Paul has a playlist using Python with Arduino kzbin.info/aero/PLGs0VKk2DiYzWURfJCbCGPa8HI0APjBfo The few differences between Python serial on the PC vs RPi can be found by searching " python raspberry pi serial" Hope this helps.

I believe your PNP circuit is not optimum. The emitter should be connected to the 3.3v and the load be put on the collector. The PNP base must be negative in respect to the emitter so a LOW on the output pin will turn on the buzzer. This can be verified by changing the sleep times. Great video.

Seems to work either way, you can rotate transistor 180 degrees and it still works but not as loud. You can also replace PNP with NPN, and then it buzzes when pin is on. But PNP is cooler, cause this way you can attach an LED to the same pin and have it light up when buzzer is off. This got me pretty confused too. The way to remember is PNP is "Pointing iN", so positive current is flowing into the base, not out.

It took me several weeks to figure out what I was doing wrong. I don't believe a PNP is the right transistor to use here. The buzzer buzzes when the current goes LOW, and off when the current goes HIGH. That is opposite of what you would expect. I spent way too much time sending a SOURCING current into the base, with no results, and it wasn't until I stumbled across a reminder that PNP uses SINKING current that I figured it out. Without making any changes to my circuit, I jumpered the base to ground, and Bob's your uncle, the active buzzer came to life. Now I can get on with my program for lesson 27, however i will be using an NPN as I want to signal the buzzer on SOURCING versus SINKING, and when I post my video you'll see why.

wow... that was a real fun challenge... really had to think .. to resolve clashes / competition for GPIO Pins.. establish equations to map Potentiometer to Analog to Digital Converter to temp range to display on the LCD display in the range I chose 32F to 100F ... here is a link to my solution kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3-yh3uKr9Ooqtk

Sometimes we all get in a bit of a rush and overlook the simple! But he doesn't edit that stuff out, as it's a good learning experience and shows it happens to all of us.
