As far as I know, Book Bolt doesn't give an option for flattening... I'm not sure if it does flatten or not. You can test by opening your PDF up in Acrobat Reader. If you can select the text, then you need to flatten it.

This is helpful! Thank you. I'm also getting a error on certain pages that my illustrations don't fit inside the margin box, those dotted lines. And it's only three pages out of the entire book that has this problem💀. How do I fix this?

Do your illustrations have any text in them? I've seen that happen before if there's text in the illustration (like a label on a bottle for example). The other thing is, does your background extend all the way to the edge of the page? (It needs to) Feel free to email me the pages at [e-mail] and I can take a look too 🙂

The information is very helpful. I just want to know how to make my first page look like my book cover. All the elements and text go to the edge of the page, but it says to put them inside the margin. If I place everything inside the margin, the elements will not go to the edge of the page. What is this problem? (book with bleed)

You do want your background to go to the edge of the page, but text needs to be inside the safe zone, and also any smaller elements need to either go past the edge or stay inside the safe zone. I explain it more in-depth in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sH-adKZjr7Cpiq8

Great video, definitely something I wasn't aware of. I'm still having a sizing issue. For some reason, the size is flipped when I load to KDP. Is this something you may have experienced previously?

No I haven't experienced that. What size book are you making?

@HeatherCashArt I have tried mainly 5"x8" and 6"x9". I use the KDP download template to ensure the correct size with Canva but get errors when uploading to KDP, saying the size of the template is switched.

Another thing. I did all this and it still did not work. I then completely closed the tab and opened a new one and it worked. Sometimes it could just be that you had the tab open for too long. Which in my case, 2 days (I never closed my tabs or switched off my laptop and left it on sleep). So no matter how many times I refreshed the page after flattening the PDF, it only worked when I opened a new tab completely.

What do you mean it won't download? Are you getting an error? Can you be more specific on what you are doing and what is happening?

Yes thank you. I go into Canva and set it to download as a best for printing pdf and click flatten. Then it results in a message that just says error downloading. But when I download the document but don’t click flatten, it downloads. So I put it into adobe to compress and flatten it and it won’t upload to kdp still. It keeps saying error processing interior. I did get my book cover uploaded.

I tried on my husbands computer too and it didn’t work. I have the professional account on Canva too. My biggest issue is trying to get it uploaded to kdp though!
