@@carlogeorge2349 I don't see it that way, I thought if PSDT wins it it's because he played in more matches this year compared to Cheslin and he was phenomenal in almost all of them, won MOTM in two games I believe but could have arguably taken the gong for every game he played. Cheslin for me was everywhere on the field and played 9 at some scrums and threw lineouts at times. The skills he showed on field were just crazy. This season he was the everywhere nuisance while PSDT was the everywhere terminator. All the more reasons for WR to have two separate awards, one for best forward and one for best back.

You have to play better than PSDT to win the award and this year nobody did. PSDT was the most influencial Springbok player this year. He played the most minutes, made the most tackles, the guy is on a different level.

Why should it be a different category? It’s just as hard to win a a gold medal as it is to win a RWC, in fact the qualifying is more difficult , it’s a pity people are so ignorant. I think if it was a different category it would be a very close run thing between Rassie and Farrell , Farrell won a back to back 6 nations shared a series in SA played all top teams lost 3 games in the year Rassie lost 2 but SA didn’t play France , so no guarantee he would have got that award.

Rassie's rue genius lies in his ability toi thi nk things through clearly, in spite of growing up in an unbelievably authorotarian environment, and I am not referring to RSA in particular, but to the coaching that we all experienced, SCHOOLTEACHERS, who laid down the law, They never evaluated the odds of a particular move, it was either acceptable or unacceptable by fiat. Let me give an example. I was not a particularly good player, in ther 1950's, but I was a good hooker and had two excellent props. We did not lose our own scrum in over 200 scrums. I suggested that we bring the fullback into the line, instead of standing way back . My reasoning was look they have lessw one in 200 chance of winning the scrum and even if they did, it gave them maybe a 10% chance of scoring; overall 1in 2000 at best, On the other hand bringing in pur fullback would give us maybe a 2% chance

Who cares about world rugby? One day Rassie will be in the rugby hall of fame having been involved in winning four consecutive world cups 2019, 2023, 2027 and 2031.
