I used to play this at the food store while my mom shopped. I would save all week to play this game. I could never remember the name, thanks for posting this!

Me too!!! Played it at the local food Mart after school in the early 90s. Forgot the name of it, wanted it for mame. Wod always search "arcade side roller adventure game with a sword as an energy bar" this would pop up, but I'd say naw I don't remember it looking like this. Until I went ahead and watched a few minutes of this video. It was this game and Rolling Thunder that I forgot the name of.

I have to admit, 2 wasn't the best but I still loved the music, especially the boss music. The laugh before the bosses is something I'll remember for the rest of my days.

Il titolo del video dice che è l'arcade,o coin op,allora perche il conta tempo e' fermo e nonostante si sta giocando lampeggia la scritta insert coin?,per quanto riguarda il conta tempo bloccato non mi risulta che esistano i giochi arcade con il trainer,per non parlare della grafica,niente a che vedere con il primo rastan saga.

Because at taito people was able to create funny stuff like Bubble bobble not this kind of combat games. Look at this game, the palette is good for a Cartoon game like liquid Kids not this one.

Roberto S They made a ton of darker, more serious games that were excellent. Gun Frontier, Metal Black, Rastan Saga (the first fone), The Ninja Warriors, Demon's World/Horror Story, Rayforce, Elevator Action Returns, etc. Not to mention they were notorious for giving a lot of their games depressing bad ends. They really just dropped the ball on this one.

I just came here from watching the PC version and let me tell you, they fucked the music up something awful on that one. It's amazing how badly the wrong sound font can massacre a good midi track.

i used to complete this game with 4 quarters i mostly died at some of the unfair jumps but it was alright, also if you defeat the final boss with a friend both "Rastan" will have to fight to claim the title of ruler of Rastania

This was Taito's most lackluster game. It suffered from poor level design, cheap hazards & unfair bosses. Taito redeemed themselves when they came out with Warrior Blade: Rastan Saga 3.

Some of the enemy designs and backgrounds are really awesome, and the graphics aren't quite as bad as in the Genesis port, naturally, so I wish I could like this game...but wow, it looks like a huge step backwards overall from the first game.

I like the triology from ''Rastan''. The second game despite the people talking bad things, i liked equally the first and third. I just complain the Rastan sprite of this second game. But the enemies sprite and background are good for me! ''Rastan Saga'' 1, 2 and 3 are great equally for me! No matter what the people will think or say about my comment.

I did like the Sega Genesis version. I don't remember the Genesis version being this bad or having such insane difficulty even though Genesis games tend to have high difficulty. This arcade version seems to have some serious flaws. I just don't get it. I play all games on arcade sticks which I find much easier than gamepads anyway especially since I grew up with arcades, Atari, and home computers years before I played an NES. Some of those tight area jumps are just obnoxious. I can't imagine how many quarters were wasted trying to get through those areas.

Wow ... I dont think any animation in this game has more than 2 frames. Even the original had attack/movement animations with 4+ frames .. and that was much earlier.

Don't get all this criticism. I enjoyed this game on cabinet back in the day. Music and FX are awesome. Maybe too difficult and Nastar's sprite looks horrible but enemies and bosses looks great. Rastan 3 is the best of the series anyway.

rastan should have been ported to more platforms...the sharp X68000 would have had an awesome version of this great game that I used to like in the arcade back in 87 great days....also what the hell did they do to rastan saga??big letdown.....

I think the first is better, the enemy's have more intelligence in how they come after you, in this they stick to their platforms and some don't even turn around. Also it seems to look like crude buster with a sword, the games must have the engine or whatever passed for one back then.

OH BOY, this game is the biggest fuck you to the fans of the Rastan Saga. This game had so many problems: the jumping mechanics is horrible, most of the bosses felt impossible to defeat in one shot, poorly designed stages, the player walks around like he has a pole up his ass, and the rope mechanics in the game is broken. The only good thing I found in this game is the music, can't let Hisayoshi "OGR" Ogura down. I rather stick to the first Rastan.

@fl21id Really? I realize you have your right to an opinion and I respect that but I honestly can't see whats so difficult about any of the Rastan games let alone Rastan 2. Maybe its just me but after you've played Conan for the NES you'd come to welcome any half decent conan like game. I really appreciate all the Rastan games but I wouldn't say they are anything above average at best. :)

Bad game design? These games were meant to make you want to shoot yourself and spend coins. It serves itself. Also, after level 4, the turtles no longer need the lightning upgrade to be killed, you only need the gloves. Months of grinding this game, going from 20 quarters a playthrough down to like 2 or 3 and you learn all sorts of weird stuff.
