Just for fun I have a Rat 1 and a Rat II both in D2 and carbon fiber. Love ‘em both. Well, I carry one or the other about half the time. Both came very sharp that a bit of honing with Flexsteel Gold and a strop improved upon. There’s not much short of invading Columbia that this father and son can’t handle.

I’ve got the Rat 1 in carbon fibre too. I have the D2 and Aus8 versions. I have the S35VN version too. That’s pretty nice.

Glad to hear that things are getting better Zel. And great video too. I just got my Rat 2 D2 Friday of last week and it's a great knife as I expected. The rats are still my favorite budget knives. My brother just ordered the Modus though so we will see if the rats get dethroned, you never know, but I highly doubt they will.

July 2019, I got one in that same brown or "Earth" color. It's well made. Mine was not sharp though.

Hello Sir , I had a bells palsy stroke myself 2years ago. It took me about 3 months to recover. I had problems with my eye drying out because it wouldn't close good. I hope and pray for your full recovery.

Thank you Thomas, I have made it past the eye control part. and now all that's loft to get back, hopefully, is the minor muscles of the lips and cheek. I can feel them starting to come back so, hopefully a full recovery is soon! Have a great day!

Get well Zelric that orange is awesome where can I find the orange I was about to buy a kubey knock off in 9cr14mov just to get some color with the Rat blade. Never mind I found the orange d2 on knife works and I agree I got the carbon fiber version and don't carry it it's to thick and to slick and looks cheep.

I just purchased this knife and unfortunately, I have some issues with it. 1) The knife tip is barely 1 mm below the handle. I could easily cut my fingertip if I am careless. 2) The edge grind along the blade is consistent, but very uneven. It is going to take a fair bit of wok to correct this defect. 3) The liner lock is well past 60%. It can exceed 70% depending how I open the blade. Perhaps this is common for a knife at this price point with D2 steel?

I have seen the tip issue on one of mine, just noticed it a couple days ago. All three of mine have reasonable edge grinds. The liner lock has been an issue on these knives for a while, if I didn't I should have mentioned it in the video. I just don't get too upset at $32

Paint chips on pocket clip. Have you or anyone else tried taking the paint off the clip with nail polish remover? I did so with a Delica clip with good results.

I haven't. I happen to have a sand blast cabinet, so I just do it the, well you know, bigger hammer and all that. I bet that enough acetone (nail polish remover) and you'd be in business. Thanks for watching and have a great day.

I have the carbon and the standard version. The carbon doesn't look awesome but it looks good enough for the price to me. I use it as a sort of gentlemen's knife. Mostly with the clip off. I don't have anything else well suited to that role at the moment and it looks fancy to non-knife people.

Can I get this with a deep carry customization? I live in town or at least in a HUGE neighborhood with families and kids and people walking their dog everywhere. I’m only a kid and I don’t want people to know that a kid has a knife on them. I’m not a little kid and I am responsible enough to carry knives, in fact I do everyday. My parents also allow me to carry knives and collect them. Just wanted to give you that background so you don’t get concerned. I swear this would be the best knife I could get right now if it was deep carry.

Ontario doesn't sell one with a deep carry clip and what are you worried about, as long as your not brandishing your knife, no one will even know you have it in your pocket. Knives are overlooked by most people, the don't exist unless someone takes it out of a pocket to use it. Have a great day!

Zelrick Thanks for the info. Yeah I never brandish my knives or show them off. This is without a doubt gonna be the next knife I will buy. To be honest this is all I need. Hunting, camping, fishing, edc. This does it all. I’m not worried about it anymore. Besides if I was worried about it I could just take the pocket clip off. Thank you and have a great day!

In the reasonably priced market, these are a great choice, however, the knives from Civivi with 9cr18 (440c equivalent) would be something to consider because of the corrosion resistance of the steel.

Zelrick like I said I’m never really using my knives so a knife with D2 steel ( a steel that even nick shabazz reccomends ) will probably last me a while. I go hunting and fishing a lot so I use my knives quite a bit then, but when I’m just around doing work I don’t always need my knives. It’s not a rarity to use my knives. In fact now thinking about it I can conclude I use them quite a bit, but a knife like this seems like a steal.

D2 vs 9Cr18 -- D2 - will rust fairly easily/9Cr18 isn't rust proof but pretty close. Edge retention fairly equal, except for that part about rust (rust ususally starts on the thinnest parts, ie the apex of the edge. Name 9Cr18 scary because it sounds like 8Cr13Mov, which is cheap knife steel. D2 sounds warm and inviting because KZbinrs and old time knife guys love it. Trusting any KZbinr Bad (even me or Nick)/ Do your own research, good.

Zelrick Well I mean I have seen other reviews of this knife too. I have done my research. Besides it’s only 30 something dollars. It’s not like I’m buying a benchmade knife here.
