The Rattler sounded more distinct I think. I just ordered one. I like how its not a full-on distortion pedal until you really crank it. Which I love. Just like a rattle snake. you piss it off, its gonna bite ya. Also I just subscribed :)

To me some have different genres. The 1981 DRV has a lower gain different EQ stack…seems to suit lower gain modern rock, pop and Indie Rock. It sounds like an Indie rock band pedal, or something you might hear by the Foo Fighters(they used the more tame early 90d Turbo Rat with Dave, and original Rat with Pat..so makes sense), like Everlong or lower gain riffs. I think the DRV shines there. Next I give it to the Ratsbane which surprised me! But the winner for me that seem to do it all, hold up and have a bit more extended bass end…The Rattler. This is a good metal and hard rock pedal. I think it’s a not out of control even at it’s highest. DRV 1981 for low gain, Verse and all around pop/Indie Rock. Jam Rattler for everything with some added depth. I’d probably buy the Jam Rattler, and the 1981 DRV as two different things.

They all sounded great... I'm leaning toward the Ratsbane though for whatever reason. Seems like a very versatile distortion.

I don't really like the Rat 🐀 pedals but that Rattler is pretty nice! Wampler seems to cut through the mix pretty well too.
