I am 86 years now and saw RATTAN in the mid 40s,probably 45/46.at Minerva in Secunderabad.The music elevated NAUSHAAD SAHEB to tremendous popularity.I continue to enjoy the movies music even now.SAWAN. KE BADALO.--UNSE YE JA kAHO--JIS DIN SE JUDA HUM HAIN--ANKHEN MERI PURNAM HAIN -CHEDO NA HAMEN AKEY-- BARSO KAHIN JAKEY--still haunts me .Those were good and simple times.Thanks a lot for uploading such music.

There was my neighbour in Nasik where my father was working in the M.E.S. The song from Rattan, "saawan kay badalo....." and the other song, " Jab tum hi chalay pardes....." were the sad songs for this neighbour. She was a widow and had just lost her husband in early 1944 and these songs somehow soothed her shattered world! I do not know; or whether she put herself in the slot to solace herself with these songs, God only knows! She used to weep singing these songs. I was just a small boy and my mother used to give solace to her. What I want to say is how songs were written in those days which portrayed reality. All the songs were a craze in those days. During marriages wherever baaraat was coming the band always played "Akhinya milake jiyabharu ankhen...." Anyone of my era cannot forget the songs from this and many hit films of those days. .

my parents told me that people used to travel long distance from villages to watch this movie. It was the greates hits along with Anmol ghadi, ek goan ki kahani etc. People used to be mesmerised by the songs and the lyrics. I believe there were printed lyrics sold in the market for half enna or quarter anna. Such were the impact of the songs
