I had the immense fortune of listening to him speak at our college seminar in Bombay in 1994. Years later I got a grant from his foundation. His life that seems to have touched so many, is an inspiration to all. His words, "At 82, I'm still learning, so when you ask me to give advice, I feel like the 'right advice' changes over a period of time-but the one thing that remains unchanged is the desire to do the right thing.”

He was looking for someone who would care for him without weighing on him, so that he could pursue his work of building for his country. That kind of devotion you don't get easily from an aspiring starlet.😮 What is incredible is that he spoke easily about his personal reactions and hesitations, which endeared him to the Indian public. He was the filmstar without being one with his own wealth and status.

Really enjoyed the documentary. They should change the thumbnail on this 😉. When I imagine 1950's America, I think of a place divided by racial hate, but having watched this documentary, I now imagine a place that was fun and welcoming - a true melting pot. My dad studied in Canada in the mid 60s and although he didn't have any close Canadian friends, he seemed to really like his class fellows, teachers and administrative staff.
