First video of 2024! Thank you all for your patience for this video to be posted. I have spent the last few weeks getting my studio in order again for another year in Orlando! I upgraded the lights I've had since the beginning of my KZbin channel. I figured out how to get music in my videos moving forward. I figured out everything I needed to go on location to Walt Disney World to record parts of videos there (which includes this one)! And I have been working to build out memberships here on the channel. I'm so excited for the year ahead, and I'm so grateful I have you as a part of my community here. Truly you mean a lot to me! Thank you for watching this video and so many more. I can't wait to make so many great videos in the coming year and continue to grow this community as it approaches 1,000,000 subscribers! I appreciate you, and I hope you have a magical day!

I remember watching this video for the first time I nearly cried. It was so beautiful and detailed into one of my favorite characters in my favorite Pixar movie. I even went to Disney recently and took my picture by Ego's shop before riding Ratatouille. Great job! You should be proud!

There's fan theory that the old woman at the beginning of the film is Anton Ego's mother. The old woman wore pink like Anton's mother in his flashback, & she clearly had experience in cooking, hence how Remy was able to learn from her cookbooks. Also, it's believed that given the flashback we get from Anton's childhood, he's so critical of other cooks because no one in his mind will ever be better than his mother. So, when Anton eats Remy's food, it reminds him of his mother who's probably too old to cook anymore, & it brings an additional meaning of the phrase "just like mom used to make."

In that case, Anton's mom somehow became a maniac.

@harmonetheanimationaddict4419 Yeah… I’d go nuts, too, if my son gained the title of Grim Eater after he’d love your food for years.

I actually assumed that Ego's mother passed away and that the dish reminded him a lot about her, so much so that it made him reconsider what he has done.

Aside from Isaac's incredible insightfulness in this video (and, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but), could we all take a moment to honor the late Peter O'Toole, who provided a most excellent vocal performance for the character of Anton Ego? R.I.P. Peter O'Toole.

I think art is an expression of one's passions and beliefs within this world. It's about taking risks, breaking the rules and exploring the unknown. Art is expression, of which we could understand the artist. Art can take any form, but it brings people together. Theatre, literature, pencil or brush, food. It brings us together because if someone makes something truly special from something so common, it'll bring people together. That, is what I believe art is.

Anton Ego is such a cool character! Pixar casted the right voice actor for him! Happy 2024! Edit: I like how Collete and Linguini look up to Ego but they are confident that Remy is a good chef. Just something that I didn't notice till now lol.

I was deeply moved by Ego's change of heart at the end of the film- his review was so carefully crafted- one of the finest monologues in recent decades of Disney, in my opinion. The fact that he staked his reputation on supporting Remy was incredible, and it's great to see that his continued life has broadened his relationship with food. I'm a major foodie myself, and I really appreciated the heart that was put into Ratatouille. Gorgeous visuals that make your mouth water, people who are passionate about food, and the way it shapes lives and relationships. I also greatly appreciate your videos, because as a Disney analyst, they inspire me to theorize and connect dots between stories as well. I don't think I'd have started crafting what I call "The Ultimate Mouseyverse Theory," linking *all properties created OR absorbed by Disney,* without having seen so many of your videos. In ways, your musings on Disney films make you the opposite of how Ego operated for so long. You bring positivity and warmth to your studies- and you obviously care about the touches like historical accuracy and proper representation in the movies. It's always a bright spot in my day when I see a new Isaac video drop.

Anton's career as a food critic ended just like he did to all the other resturaunts, by the ruthless critiques of his readers that praised his merciless standards. But just like that, the Grim Eater was reborn. Such a beautiful film.

What really shocked me about Ratatouille was that Anton Ego wasn’t a villain. He was just a cynic whose perspective of life was changed by a little chef
@aff771419 ай бұрын
I think Ego definitely took joy in being so scathing, but I also think he felt it was fully justified, not just him being cruel, at least at the start. As he said he takes food very seriously, so anyone who is not the best of the best would be an insult to him and something that his whole life revolves around. He isn't an artist, but he finds art in how he understands what it means to be a good cook on a different level, far beyond the pompous aristocracy of French brigade cooking, tearing down people who think they're the greatest because they have these fancy techniques and a saucier and expensive ingredients, and he thinks gustau was among them, just trying to soullessly peddle garbage for high prices. THAT is what Ratatouilles leads teach him. That there are still earnest artists in the world of French cuisine, and that it could be anyone you pass on the street. It could even be you :)

Anton Ego’s transformation was similar to that of Forky’s. At first Forky was lacking in the magic that came to being a toy because of him being made from garbage, but as the fourth movie goes on we see Forky slowly becoming a real toy every time he gets an epiphany, shown by having his eyes focus in the center and actually blinking like all the other toys. Forky’s epiphanies are similar to that moment after Anton Ego ate the Ratatouille and remembered himself as a kid.

Maybe Anton Ego writing bad reviews is not only because he felt something's missing in the food he ate, but maybe is one example of why people like darkness more than light.

Not related but I have a theory that Zhen from KFP4 went into the Jade Palace and tried stealing The Staff Of Wisdom from Po.
