Ratchet And Clank Stereo Remastered Soundtrack

Hi All! Thanks so much for listening :) Please note that this was a fun little project I spent no more than a few hours on, and I never expected it to explode like it has! Had I known, I would have spent a lot more time paying attention to each track, but as it stands the tracks were all processed together with each 'stem' being made up of all relevant instruments from every track in succession. What this means is that I only ever had one big master file containing every track, and pulling out each individual track separately for release would be another whole project in itself. This, coupled with the fact that the project is stored on my old computer which I no longer use and may or may not even still have the original split stems stored unfortunately means that releasing the tracks for download isn't currently on the cards. I'd hoped (and still hold out for) an official release one day, but in the meantime I hope you can enjoy this soundtrack nonetheless. Amazing work! You can easily hear the different layers of the tracks now without them competing with each other in the same audio space. I've played the original R&C countless times as it's an all-time favorite of mine, and I'm only now hearing these little details for the first time. My love for this soundtrack has only deepened now. I also really appreciate you adding the transition sounds and using gameplay screenshots to show the areas the tracks play in. It's a little bit of extra detail that goes a long way to immerse you, now that we have this in stereo.

David Bergeaud, the composer, have a really good knowledge of colors and textures both in orchestral, and electronic writing, the combinaisons of the 2 principes whitin it's advanced harmonic system do a very good job.

I will never forget the Sony PlayStation 2 demo disc with the Ratchet and Clank demo on it. It contained two levels: Kerwan Metropolis and Rilgar Blackwater City. I played the demo over dozens of time and then I got the full game of Ratchet and Clank on my birthday in early 2003.

I remember as a kid I loved the sound track of this game, for the first time in my life I watched the credits scroll and saw a familiar name pop up in the credits, to my amazement I saw that is was my year 5 teacher who worked on this sound development of this game, the next day I rushed to school just to ask my teacher if he worked on the game and his eyes lit up! He looked at me and said “shh” with the biggest grin on his face, my jaw dropped and my eyes widened. I was also his worse student when I got to his class because I sucked at maths.

The Original Ratchet Clank soundtrack remains one of the most unbelievably well-done yet seemingly overlooked soundtracks in videogames. I don't know what type of work its takes to reamaster a soundtrack from mono (I just barley learned that there's even a difference between mono and stereo, I'm not a music theory guy). But based off what you've said in the description this clearly had a lot of effort put into it. Thank You for going the extra mile for every track! The simple cut out from the retro-mono to the new stero version right at the beginning (as well as the lovely sound design and visuals on each song transition) are also fantastic editions to what would otherwise just be some audio over a PNG like most soundtrack videos. I looked at your channel real quick and also saw that your making an indie game! Are you posting the progress of your work anywhere else? Myself and I'm sure many others would like to follow your progress and support your endeavors.

Wow, this is amazing! Interesting way you achieved this. Sounds great! I've been wanting somebody to do this for years! Listening to Quartu in Stereo after all these years was SO cathartic. Thank you so much for this! Could you possibly upload individual, unedited tracks too? I like the transitions you used between tracks, but it would be great to have clean stereo edits of every track in the game! Holy HELL the results in this are incredible. I'm not only impressed the AI technology that can make this even exists, but the way they were converted into stereo is so natural that you could lie straight to my face and tell me these were part of some sort of album release and I'd believe you completely. Not sure if you're comfortable with the concept, but do you plan on adding a download link of any kind in the future to some sort of file sharing service? I'm also unsure if it'd be of interest, but I'd love to see Going Commando's soundtrack receive the same treatment and would definitely be willing to wait. That soundtrack is less 'playful' with it's instrumentation, but there are a couple of tracks I REALLY adore in that one (mainly Tabora's Mining Area).

The stem seperation AI is still very (very) rough, but worked just well enough to get some results. If you heard the individual tracks you'd be less impressed haha It's unlikely I'll make them available for download as it's possible (there's some talk) there may be an official release at some point... Maybe. Which if announced will mean I'll take this version down. Going commando's soundtrack is already stereo so there's a lot less work to do there, I could do a minor remaster to attempt to improve detail but I think the GC music is already pretty great in that department, probably beyond my capabilities to improve it further. Great job! A very nostalgic soundtrack for me given that R&C was the first video game I ever played! 22 years of gaming and so much has changed but not always for the better. The PS2 classic series like Ratchet &Clank, Jak & Daxter, and Sly Cooper will always be very special games in my book 😀
