Ola, how about rating someone's tone, and then if they want, they can send their DI signal to you, so you can do your preferred version of it, wether by reamp or plugin. Somewhat like people are doing on the Andy Sneap forums.

The Ultra Plus is a forgotten and highly underappreciated gem of an amp. It's especially awesome for downtuned metal. I dare say it's quite similar to my Uberschall and gets just as much play time.

For anyone worried about putting their ear to the speaker, hearing damage happens with volume over time, so ten seconds or so of exposure to high volumes won't do you permanent damage but it will wreck your sound perception for the rest of the day so you won't get any decent mixing done that day.

Firstly - a great idea for a series. I've been watching it with great interest since the first episode. Thanks Ola !!! Now I will write something that some of you guys may not like. But I'm not attacking anyone, and I hope no one gets offended. Don't get me wrong, but why do so many of you (great guitarists, no doubt) "waste your time" searching for a tone "like" their favorite guitarist (or at least close to that)? Using IR and ready-made presets available on the internet is certainly very convenient, but think about how much more creative your playing could be if you spent this time searching for your own tone ... ??? Greetings from Poland \m/

A pawnshop Peavey and basic skills w a soldering iron is hard to top in high gain tones. Choke mod, bias pot , non- Sheffield speakers, KT88s... Mississippi Marshall FTW. P.s. I will say the 1290s really kicked ass on 8 string but got a bit strident in upper registers vs V30s. Um, to my ears at any rate.

Hard to go past the Peavey Ultra series of amps. Would have been good to have heard a better recording though. The guy with the Orange had the nicest recording.

That recording of the Ultra+head doesn't do it any real justice. That amp put of the box sounds like a way more expensive amp. And with 3 channels with built in reverb, half power switch, etc.

Completely unrelated to this but i can find an actual answer anywhere. Can i use the speaker emulator in my Diavlo RD45 without my 4x12 so i can run another amp through the cab at the same time with the 2 outputs on my mxr eq pedal to get multiple different tones?
@JN-qj9gf3 жыл бұрын
Hard to tell what youre trying to do but most tube amps need a speaker or dummy load plugged to prevent damage (even for silent recording). I'd check you're randall's manual before trying.
@AJ_Drums3 жыл бұрын
@@JN-qj9gf i read that forst but it only tells me its a speaker emulator and that's it
@Fight4Madness3 жыл бұрын
That's the original Text from the Rd45 manual: "17. Speaker Emulator - XLR Balanced output is signal fed post effects loop from the preamp (all three channels & EQ). This signal is then sent through the speaker emulator which simulates the sound and response of a mic'd up Randall 4x12 speaker cabinet. This function is useful as a Direct send to PA/FOH for silent stages, in ear monitor feed or send to external power amp. "Silent Mode" - For direct (silent) recording, Leave STANDBY (#12) in ON position(with speaker plugged in!!!). The preamp will send signal to the XLR output and be fed from the individual channel controls" So you can not use the emulated out without a speaker load connected! Even if there is no sound coming out from the Ludspeaker output, the poweramp is still operating and needs the speaker load...
