Jago's Endokyuken finisher was broken through. Especially in stages with auto-zoom, he could literally just chuck them out in succession and if your character didn't have a teleport there was no way to avoid it.

Anyone else want Max to rate the supers of games he wouldn’t normally play, just to see him have to play? Obviously this would just be for a one off thing like the central fiction videos but it’d still be fun. Me personally I’d like to see a rate the super on arcana heart 3 since there’s like 70 supers that could work and I can see Max having some funny commentary with the game.

The Finishers/Ultimates in KI2 might not be the best Fatality type moves out there, but I always loved the special effects as a kid, and I think they still look pretty cool now. The glowy beam from Jago burning you to a crisp, cat-form Orchid running through you setting you ablaze, Fulgore’s laser turning you to slowmo goo. Conceptually pretty mid, but VFX wise, especially for its time, it really just hits the ”feels good” spot in my brain.

I think Tusk have the best ones, first a snake that bites you half and pullls u up. Then a shower of meteors and then a comet to squish you is hardcore AF. i think Then the other one is Maya, she summons an elephant to squish you and sit on you.. daamn. Amazing too.

the bad part about these is that you had to block them and they could be spammed endlessly, you could jump from full screen and land on TJ's bullets, and if you blocked it it pretty much pushed you back full screen, you could also take one step forward and be instant blasted by fulgore's pulp laser.

I really don't understand why Killer Instinct haven't been a long running game franchise the games were hits and up there with Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat sad the franchise didn't become popular as those two games cause they stop making KI games.

KI Gold sold like garbage because it was on a console that no one cared for, especially if you were into fighting games (PS1 had everything). Xbox lost the devs of KI 2013 to Amazon. No western devs left anymore for fighting games outside NetherRealm

After seeing the supers for both classic KIs I have to wonder, why do most of these characters pull out some new power or ability or in some cases just a literal gun for their ultimate move when the rest of their normal moveset does not mesh with it at all? TJ Combo: punchiest of punchy mans, punch so strong he creates mini tornadoes. Ultimate move: pulls out a gun and just shoots you. Tusk: literally Conan, biggest sword boi this side of Cloud. Ultimate move: casts Meteor. Like????

They were going to add them in batches but development stopped before they got to give one to everybody or something along those lines. As someone who used to main Spinal too, I feel your pain.

@@_YESIMHIGH They released 3 packs of character ultimates back in 2017 with the last one released just a little bit after Eagle (the final character). The third pack was the last content added to the game. You can check the dates on the Killer Instinct wiki. I dont remember if they ever talked about it (not going to dig articles to check), but it seems like that was the case.

@@itol2201, KI characters doing Ultimates back then are effectively the same as Brutalities today, with a few minor differences. I'd personally would like to see a crossover where both finishers, & tag-team finishers, could change based on a System Direction choice (i.e., if the player changes their style choice, kind of like the CvS series).

@@starbreaker6441, in a joint collaboration between NRS and Rare/Iron Galaxy, each company would probably want to stipulate that their respective companies work on their own respective characters (i.e., NRS for MK, and Rare for KI). It's possible to pull off, provided that the higher-ups at each respective company don't trip over their own dicks.

In killer instinct gold, I remember using the cheat codes, to unlock hidden menus in the options. And then setting the game speed to ludicrous (or however it is spelled?) and the speed increase, coupled with executing the ultimates during high speed combos. Could sometimes and somehow increase the speed of the ultimates and ultras, to a point where they become so much cooler looking, and also get some of that “oomph” and impact that Max was missing a bit. And the best thing was when you did it so fast, that the game bugged. Never have a video game made me feel this powerful. Killer Instinct Gold. By today’s standard it definitely shows its age. But man, do I love this game and it’s ultimates too. When I was a kid, this game blew my mind. And also, Both of Fulgore’s Ultimates are so awesome. And I have honestly lost some recognition of Max as a fellow Fulgore fan, due to his “wrong” opinions. :p Also, Max said more blood was needed in Sabrewulf’s ultimate, and this too could be fixed with KI Gold’s cheat codes.

Actually KI2 Arcade Orchid has an ultimate in the game but is unfinish and only accesible through cheats in mame. It looks to be a remake of the KI1 frog Danger move.

I actually like killer instinct gold for n64, because of the fire cat ultimate. KI Gold isn't that bad as people thought. i wish rareware can develop an updated version of KI Gold and fixing the move set controls if microsoft haven't bought them out. You know, i think that when rareware was bought out by microsoft, it kinda sucks that they're not allowed to make games on nintendo consoles anymore. not even another banjo kazooie game.

I remember in my local arcade back in the old days, i remember crashing the arcade version of this game. With Jago I would go about it as if I was going for a standard 73 hit ultra combo but instead of doing the ultra, i would do Jago's flaming Endokuken finisher. This for some reason kept crashing the arcade game. First time i thought it was a fluke but i did twice more before it dawned on me that it was indeed a kind of bug here the game would crash and reset if i did that specific combo. I never did that again after that. Lost my credit everytime which was about 50p here in the UK at the time.

Nah, the main problem it's the CGI, it would cost a lot of time to create and animate different models for each finisher, for example if they made sabrewulf rip your arms of eat you, you would have to render each character missing different parts in the process of being ate, that's why so many of those happen outside the screen

The second game feels so rushed. The ultimates and Ultras are super weak. The ultra's have so many repeated animations back to back for every character. I liked the new characters and stages but man it lacked polish that the 1st game had.

This game is epic! Music is on fire! Orchid never looked so good before or after. Also, in my opinion, plays better than the first one as someone who didn't get to experience these when they came out except for magazine screenshots and Super Nintendo version like in 1998.
