Well sorry but even excluding the bias Omnislash cames out years before Great Aether and is one of the most iconic attack in video game history, and in this game it is more effective than great Aether (better damage and far better range) as well as being visually very faithfull to FF (actually this is exact same Omnislash animation than the Dissidia and Dissidia 012 only faster).

@@HappyPotat Character screaming the main attack always feel dumb IMO and is out of character for Cloud, it's way more impactful, is almost as much powerfull and more in gameplay practical, is more faithfull to the character (Unlike Ike which Great Aether is completly made up for Smash, Omnislash is Cloud's signature move since FFVII) so yeah overall Omnislash is better in every way.

Fact remains Ike had it as a Final Smash in Smash Bros first and they could have tried to vary it, but it's literally a swordsman bringing their opponent into the air, slashing at them, and slamming down on them again. They could have tried to do SOMETHING to change it up a bit

Something I really like doing for Final Smashes in Training mode is to turn the speed down, especially on the Omnislash-esque ones, because they are actually completely animated, and the normal speed just makes it hard to see

Max does indeed have a bias towards Cloud, but his rating of Omnislash is much more reasonable than the people saying Omnislash a copy of Great Aether -- especially since _Great Aether_ is a non-canon carbon copy of _Omnislash._ Much like how Wii Fit Trainer's final smash is like a horizontal PK Starstorm, but is considerably worse because it's also non-canon and doesn't reference anything (amusingly enough).

@@mythosinfinite6736 Carbon copy? Now slow down there, we know the moves are similar but you can't be blind enough to see both are different. Great Aether is more or less an upgraded Aether, consisting of a combination of kicks, slashes, and ending with the usual Aether move. He doesn't dance around the enemy, either. Instead, the Omnislash is a powerful combination of sword slashes all around the enemy. No kicks, but Cloud does dance around the enemy, and the attack hits less times. And if we're talking about relevance and referencing the games... Aether is Ike's signature move and has a small relevance in the plot of his games, being a Skill he has been developing over all the time he has trained. Not just that, the whole Great Aether thing is mostly inspired by the final battle of Radiant Dawn, where he is bathed by the power of Yune, goddess of chaos, giving him his distinct blue flames, and the power to deal the final blow. I simply think that there's nothing wrong with Omnislash inspiring Great Aether, despite the fact FF7 didn't create the sky soaring slash combos, and that it is also likely that they just made up a "better Aether" for the sake of it. This feeling of entitlement just because some people don't agree with one move being arbitrarily rated higher than the other...idk, seems ridiculous.

My issue is that people will look at Omnislash and see "Oh look, the Ike knockoff is doing an Ike knockoff move, what an Ike knockoff. Who asked for these anime swordfighters anyways?", because they don't know any better and won't bother to know any better. I know that Ike kicks a bit sometimes, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's an entirely original move to Smash and is, essentially, blade spam with a falling slash that ends in an explosion -- ie Omnislash. The inspiration is clear enough that people call Omnislash a ripoff of Great Aether; what _I'm_ saying is that, if one is going to get shit for being unoriginal, it sure as hell shouldn't be Omnislash. I won't give either shit, I like them both, but if one needs to get it, it should at least be right one.
