Rathcoole Protestant Boys - In Memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

On Saturday the 10th of September 2022 Rathcoole Protestant Boys F.B gather at the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee mural inside Rathcoole estate Newtownabbey. The band opened this mural alongside RATH Community Group back in June 2022 to recognise 70 years on the throne. So it was only fitting that we payed homage to Her Majesty here at this mural during this very sad time.
We had band captain Colin Logan play Amazing Grace on the flute whilst Robert Carson marched up and layed the bands wreath with the greatest of dignity and respect. Then we had Ex-Serviceman Lee Adams step up to play the Last Post on the bugle. The guys then had a moments silence as they payed their final respects to Her Majesty before they finished up by playing God Save the King. We had Colin Logan, Morgan Cameron and William Mayne playing the flutes, Ryan Wright playing the cymbals, Paisley McFarlane playing the junior bass drum for the very first time in public and finally two of the most talented young drummers in the country Bobby Cameron and Bobby O’Connor playing the junior side drums.
This was a warm and heartfelt tribute from the band with it leaving our members very emotional afterwards having thoughts and talking about all the memories from the Queens life’s time. 1962-2022 your duty is done ma’am. Thank you for your service.
We also have our band captains mother Linda Abernathy read out a poem which was written by our very own Colin Logan. Only fitting that a great lady reads out a poem to remember another great lady!
