All they had to do was bring back the barber poll or even a variation of the winter classic and I would have loved it. Stars' jersey was way too low, they treat minimalism as a sin while it was well executed on that one. Canucks' should be low just because it looks like a Sprite to them. Also, the Nordiques didn't have a good looking jersey, and they made it worse by adding Avalanche colours; it does deserve to be anywhere above "Delete This". This isn't all I have to say, just an overview. Btw, I'm from Québec, the only reason people wear that jersey is because of nostalgia.

Blue just isn't appealing for montreal when you think of the Canadiens you think or a red jersey with that exact logo. There is definitely better logos they could've used and switched up the colour maybe a dark red or a light red but idk the blue its really just ideal for them

It's reverse retro. Retro being old, reverse being colors. Reversing your current jersey is only half the job. Finding a great retro design to go along with the reverse colors is the other half of the goal here. Montreal did only half of their homework, while Calgary finished with an A.

But whatever. Following your opinion, Calgary also did half the job since they did not reverse the colours.

I was hoping for the mustard jersey design, but in navy. I like the idea of taking a jersey that was generally not well received and updating it for modern times. Almost like a second chance at righting a wrong. Same reason the Islanders could have gone with the fisherman logo. But teams that took a fan favorite style and tried to update it (ie. St. Louis, Winnipeg, etc), there just seems like more room to screw it up than there is to improve upon it.

Arizona: The Peyote Coyote looks so good, especially in purple. It shouldn’t have ever worked, and yet, here we are. Find your soulmate, Arizona. Grade: A+ Los Angeles: Absolutely nailed it. Literally could not be done better. A double throwback that scratches every itch and looks so uniquely LA. Not only is the jersey just plain good, it should be held as THE gold standard for this kind of campaign. Grade: A+ Washington: Bringing back the screaming eagle was absolutely the right choice. Bringing it back in the red, white, and blue was fantastic too. It is a true reverse retro and brings back a design everyone wanted in a way that looks sick as hell. Grade: A+ Anaheim: WILD WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!!!!!!!!!! Grade: A Florida: Beautiful. A true remix with the new colors and striping. Classy logos. It all looks so clean. Grade A Minnesota: Reviving a dead franchise can be tricky. Minnesota did it perfectly. The recolored logo with faithful color blocking is a thing of beauty. Grade: A Nashville: I love it. I hate that I love it. Gold is their color. The silver yolk is badass. Maybe could have used a bit more blue, but these look so good as-is. Grade: A- Boston: Nailed the prompt, but I would have preferred brown instead of black. Something to separate this from, say, a Starter fashion jersey. I love the logos, the striping, it’s all good, but not quite great. Grade B+ New Jersey: I love Christmas. Grade B+ Tampa Bay: A jersey that should have existed two decades ago. The crest is ugly as sin, but the silver and black accents are A1 material. Grade: B+ Vancouver: You nailed the prompt. You nailed it in a bold way. But there’s a reason jerseys don’t have gradients anymore. Grade: B+ Buffalo: The Sabres sticking to royal blue and yellow? Plus. Returning to a unique jersey design? Plus. That design being a little bit ugly? Yeah, okay, fair enough. Overall, I like these jerseys. My appreciation is more based on principle than on aesthetics. Grade: B Quebec Colorado: It’s a tasteful throwback, but it’s bland. There needed to be something else. Grade: B Columbus: They’re the BLUE Jackets. Stick with blue. Also, bring back Stinger, you cowards. That being said, I dig it, mostly… Grade: B- Montreal: Montreal could do exactly one thing for this project. They did it. Congratulations Montreal, they look pretty good. Grade: B- Winnipeg: Full marks for the prompt. Frankly, I could just repeat what I said for Washington. The major failing for me is that Winnipeg’s jerseys look a lot drabber than most of the teams on this list. Grade: B- Hartford Carolina: I love the Whalers jersey. I love everything about it. The striping, the whale tail, Pucky. All of it is great. What I hate is gray jerseys. I didn’t like the original silver Whalers unis, and I don’t like these. Grade: C+ Chicago: Chicago gains points in key areas. It’s a throwback from them we haven’t seen yet. It’s a significant departure from their 1940 uniform. It brings back the classic logo. It looks pretty sick. Where it loses the most points is that it’s boring. I wish they used a secondary logo to set it apart. It’s a bona fide reverse retro, but I wouldn’t know the difference if you told me it was a straight throwback. Grade: C+ Dallas: I needed a bolder gold. The whiteout could have worked, but they needed to go bold elsewhere. They didn’t and the jersey suffers for it. Grade: C+ Philadelphia: This one wins the “most likely to be confused with a Taiwanese knockoff.” It follows the prompt, it looks good, it’s a bootleg. Grade: C+ San Jose: Like Chicago, I appreciate that they went with a throwback they haven’t done before, but if you told me it was a straight throwback, I’d believe you. Grade: C+ Pittsburgh: They’re fine. No, really. They’re fine. Grade C NYR: Not different enough to be bold, not similar enough to be great. You’re lucky I like lady liberty. Grade: C- Detroit: Similar to some *ahem* other teams, you failed to do a whole lot. I hate that you basically wasted this opportunity, but it’s just way more excusable for you guys. Still, should’ve done a red/white/silver Falcons throwback. Grade: D+ Calgary: The Flames chose an interesting strategy: pretend to not know what “reverse” means. The jersey is sick, but it’s a knockoff throwback, not a reverse retro. Grade: D Edmonton: Did you do anything different? I honestly can’t tell and haven’t looked it up yet. I was hoping for the WHA logo. Grade: D Ottawa: So boring. The most boring possible option. Grade: D Vegas: I feel bad for Vegas. The retro part of the reverse retro can’t really apply to them in the first place, so they start in a tight spot. That being said, there’s no excuse for this. You have one of the best color palettes of any franchise in all sports and you give us this? Yeah, hard pass. You do get points for trying. Grade: D- St. Louis: The blues is a Chicago genre, and red is a Chicago color.
