One of my favorite witchy series (without satanic distortions) is Netflix' "Luna nera", although it may not be available in the States. I also kind of liked the somewhat novel take on Nimue and fairies in the Arthurian precursor series "Cursed" (also on Netflix, at least here in Germany).

Hecate's much cooler than Satan anyhow. I would have liked to have seen more members of the coven find out that their "Dark Lord' or "God" was actually a self-obsessed narcissistic liar with a god complex who's also a promise breaker and a sore loser who actually never protected them from anything and was actually planning to enslave them along with the mortals they considered to be "weak sheep" compared to them (which makes it kind of ironic, all that flak thrown at Sabrina for being half mortal when actually the devil never saw them as being any different, he just gave them powers so they'd worship him to feed his own ego) and to actually see them come to terms with the loss of their beliefs and religion, though I did like how quickly they conformed to Hecate - the whole coven seemed a lot calmer and more in control after they started to worship her.

Hmm the Cunning Folk sounds very much like the people living in rural Appalachia where my partner is from; many Christian people live there but it is not uncommon for them to call a herbalist/healer/wise woman a witch, they use scripture and Granny Magic and some families have particular abilities that are passed form generation to generation but stay within the family. My partner’s family has a very special knack with animals, nature, seeing spirits even those who are astral projecting and dowsing.

as for the witchy stuff, idk but there definitely are christian witches or at least witches who believe in jesus, a lot of early grimoires were written by christian scholars, and a lot of ritualistic magic calls on god and the archangels, i think they might have a certain authority over some entities but not all of them, and only under certain circumstances...hail satan, hail belial

Ok, I haven't finished the video yet (it was posted ~1 min ago, heh!) but my 3 problems that bothered me for awhile in this show were: how the pagans were portrayed (but honestly, it's alright. It didn't bother much much), how Faustus says "Sam-Hane" instead of "Sow-in", and how they called the March full moon the Hare moon instead of the Worm moon! It is set in March and if they went the Worm moon route it could have been so cool! I imagine them going into the ground and ending up in some rotten place... The show was so poorly researched for some things! I think they tried to nail some stuff for 'flex points' and figured they could make up the rest... Surely there are other things they got wrong that I don't know about. And while these things don't ruin the show for me, and likely non-practitioners wouldn't notice, it was still irritating. Also, I wish Salem was more important! You can't win 'em all though lol

I too quite enjoyed watching Sabrina - as a sort of "guilty pleasure" - and I agree with your 2/10 - 7/10 ratings. So I would be all for a Part 2, if you care to make it. I also liked that you more or less confirmed my impression that the "witches" are actually more like satanists than true witches. But as you say, it's lots of fun. I also found the atmosphere - lighting and such - as well as the ugliness of the demons rather impressive.

@@hurtspublishing3906 Well, they call her the first witch in the show so it makes sense to stick with that. I lnow it's a bit of a stretch, but... I've yet to see someone give a "witchy" review to the Dragonball series (starting from the "Dragonball Z" [The original Dragonball is a different type of show altogether.]). Given the fact that it consists of a universe (actually, multiverse) filled with many powerful gods and goddesses along with frequent talk about the importance of the balance of light and dark, I figured that you might want to take a look. And, even if you don't find anything worthwhile to talk about, it's still a pretty good show. :)

I recommend looking into British Traditional Witchcraft. Treading the Mill by Nigel Pearson is a good place to start. :)

you know actually there are books like the grimorium verum and mesopotamian books that have a lot to do with i guess satanic witchcraft but it was kinda just kept on the DL and it wasnt really considered "satanic" nor was it considered "witchcraft" yet

The Grimorium Verum actually falls under abrahamic witchcraft. While it does summon demons, it also includes prayers to God, and uses God’s holy names as tools to conjure said demons.all the blessings are done to God and Jesus It’s part of Solomonic magic, which states that by invoking Christian and Jewish figures, one can summon and control demons, like King Solomon.

I loved this show. 🥰🥰🥰 Yes, they were not totally accurate or historically correct, and it had very distasteful issues (infanticide and cannibalism were shockers), but the atmosphere, set decoration, costumes, episodes and acting were awesome. The cancellation left not only the main character's fate up in the air, it dropped several other storylines and left poor Salem woefully underused. But what I liked most about the show is the way they pushed the boundaries of Americans' support of freedom of religion. While obviously criminal acts like murder and cannibalism, extortion and torture were simply fiction, it was very uncomfortable to hear them constantly referring to Satan, hell and demons and invoking Lucifer and his blessing at every turn. I liked how if you continued to watch this show, this became less of an issue. For myself, after a while, I didn't even blink anymore and it wasn't beyond the pale. This is what normalizing does. People can get used to anything. 😀😊

I heard they portrayed caos witchcraft like the church would want pagans to be seen 🤷‍♀️ love the show tho, the ending just sucks, shame it got cancelled. I think many people got interested in paganism because of this series :)

The first season was so great! I think it went down hill each season. Hecate was *chef's kiss* throughout though imo! Do you think she took over control of Hell? It was kind of ambiguous as far as I remember.

I also thought it was ridiculous that they started worshipping Hecate. I guess to defeat the pagan, you have to become the pagan??

um they actual stopped worshiping the dark lord in the veining of season 3 and were worshiping lithe, and were only able to get their powers back and defeat the pagans by turning to hecte.
