10:36, this has been a bug for a little while now, for some reason the game has trouble understanding when you aim at red side fountain, this happens in aram too, it makes your skillshots aim the way rat's e went in the video, very odd one :p

This is just how the game handles out-of-bounds actions, they get the nearest passable cell center (same function that handles dashes mid-terrain etc., for nerds it's args are (*(float **)(dword_18900C4 + 4), a1, a2, a3, a4, a5, 35.299999, a6) good luck figuring that one out), it just so happens that the nearest correct cell is at an absurd angle. Basically, not a bug, just an extreme case that doesn't really require to be "fixed" because changing that function would change how casting spells in terrain feel

I can throw my ezreal R or even his Q off the map in aram as much as I want, but not directly into the red side fountain? At the very least it seems logically incorrect even if it's working intentionally. Though I'll admit, if you're in the situation of throwing spells at the nexus fountain then it probably doesn't matter anyway. Thank you for the technical explanation though, very interesting :3

​@@zyad48 Okay so actually it does matter for skillshot for a very dumb reason; skillshots are actually casted tri-dimensionally Although hitboxes themselves do not have a height factor (the highground/lowground stuff being talked about everywhere is actually simple render issues, the "ground" around the river has an height of ~45 and the river itself is in the negative, making it really obvious there, but the whole rift is actually not plane at all, e.g. the "base" is at height ~95, outside of the base is ~55, the river is in between -60 and -50 etc.), when you cast a spell you actually cast them on a Vector3(x, y, z) The issue is that League's map is coded with cells: basically you have small portions of the map that each have their own flags. For the sake of fallbacks (to prevent crashes, unintended/unpredictable behavior...), if there is no cell it's a wall cell (this way you can't use spells like Zeri E outside of the map because they actually don't have a valid endpoint considering well... the wall never ends!). The second issue is that casting a spell in a tri-dimensional plane means you need to normalize it (e.g. if I were to cast at height 90000 the skillshot shouldn't go up in the air but to the ground values in that direction!) so Riot invented that "get nearest passable cell" function that'll return the closest valid cell. This function is used on the cursor position (the *actual* cursor in-game, not the one you actually see, you can move your cursor freely around the map) so that your casts and movements are *always* normalized to the closest cell, this is very important or otherwise your character would have a tri-dimensional movement etc. The issue that arises is that the "outside" of the map's nearest cells aren't always at a correct angle (they're very often perpendicular actually, but remember height also plays a role so the angle doesn't look exactly 90°) and this is why you end up with "wrong" angles when attempting to cast outside of the map! This is easy to see when you actually have the Normal (or Quick) casts indicator: try aiming Ezreal's R (with your mouse cursor actually outside of the map), it'll stutter back and forth between seemingly random locations! This is one of my biggest nerd moment I fear
