बौद्ध राजा ठकुरीहरुबारे ब्यापक अनुसंधान होस।
@rajeevhada10944 жыл бұрын
Boudh thakuri Raja Haroo today are Shresthas and Pradhans. All the Licchavi and Thakuri kings and rulers became Shresthas and Pradhans during the Malla period. Even till thirty or forty years ago senior members of Shresthas and Pradhans used to be Called ‘Thakoo’. Thakoo means senior or elder in Newari. The Mallas gave the nobles of the Licchavi and Thakuri/Thakoo’s, the Shrestha title. A good example is the Pradhans of the Thabahi or Bhagwan Bahal in Thamel, it’s the Pradhan family that presides Over the Buddhist Bahal. The family is the lineage of the Thakuris who built the Bahal in the medieval era. Older generations of the Pradhans even today are called Thakoo by the Newars. However, they were Buddhist, but they may have changed their Religion to Hinduism during the Malla period who were Hindu Kings. The Thakuri Kings were called ‘Thakoo’ by the Newars. Some historians also say the Thakoo or the Thakuri Kings were actually Thakurs from North India. There’s a clear distinct difference between who are called Thakuris today who are from west Nepal and the Thakuri/Thakoo kings in Kathmandu thousand years ago. The Thakuris today who are from the West do not have the hereditary lineage of the Thakuris who ruled Kathmandu. They may have the same roots from India. But their entry point in Nepal looks like they were different. One entered western nepal and the other may have come to Kathmandu. Historians are quite clear that people from the west which include Thakuris and the Khas from the west never ruled Kathmandu. They attacked and waged wars but never conquered.

@@rajeevhada1094 you are right that khas from the west never ruled kathmandu. However, it was not because they were not able to conquer kathmandu. Each and every khas invasion of kathmandu (seven times between 1344 BS to 1391 BS) had resulted in victory for the khas. So why did the khas not annex Nepal Mandal into their samrajya or choose to rule directly despite such victories? To answer this we must analyse the historical facts and find out the clear motive of khas invasions. The khas kingdom represented a large empire which extended to some areas in Tibet also to the North. It had influence up to Bodhgaya in the South and in the east up to Gandaki pradesh. The size of their kingdom was even larger than that of present day Nepal. The khas malla kings ruled over a militarily powerful kingdom. The Malla kings followed a variant of Mahayana branch of Buddhism and naturally supported the Buddhist rulers of the kathmandu valley. That period in Nepal Mandal was marked with intense conflict and rivalry between hindu malla kings and Buddhist kings with "dev" title. The hindu kings had the support of karnat/tirhut bamsiya kings of the Terai whereas khas malla kings of Sinja supported the Buddhist kings whenever they were called for assistance. Hence, the main motive was to provide military support to the Buddhist kings of the valley. The khas kings after each conquest stayed for some period of time in Nepal Mandal and conducted religious rites in vihars and temples. There are records that show Khas kings made donations to Vihars, Gombas and temples. Punya Malla had donated hand written copy of "Satasrahapragyaparamita" text to a Mahavihar in Itumbahal. We must appreciate the immense contribution of khas kings for the preservation of Buddhist heritage of then Nepal Mandal.

@@katb5007 You are absolutely right. Kathmandu valley was a melting pot. A lot of the khas people who came to Nepal Mandal (Kathmandu ) stayed behind and immersed in the valley culture and thus contributed to the valley culture civilization as well. Thus the Newa civilization is a continuation from the Lichavis, Thakoo/Thakuris, Mallas till today and it's an assimilation of the Khas people, North Indians, Kirantis (Rai and Limbus) and all. Thus it's a contribution of all the communities forming a new civilization. But, whether the Khas people could have taken Nepal Mandal, it's a speculation, it could be right. There were alliances made between kingdoms supporting each other not very different from alliances made between countries today. Their contribution in preserving the Nepal Mandal heritage by providing military support is huge, we can assume. My previous response was to the question of who the Thakuri rulers were that ruled Kathmandu. As I stated earlier what some historians call Thakuris were addressed as Thakoo in the valley. The contemporary Thakuris are not the heritage of the Thakoo/Thakuris who ruled Kathmandu. There's a dissociation. When the Mallas conquered Kathmandu they brought drastic changes to the social fabric in the valley. 'Shresthas' and 'Pradhans' did not exist during pre Malla period. During the Malla reign a new class of Hindu elite group emerged known as the Shresthas and Pradhans. Shrestha name was a title given by the Mallas to the previous rulers and nobles, notably the Lichavis and the Thakuris/Thakoos to keep them happy. Basically the Shrestha title was given to any one who the Mallas were impressed with. Thus, it could have been Khas people, Kirant origins and anyone. Same thing out here with Pradhans. Pradhans in Bhagwan Bahal, Thamel are good example. They became hindus later. But their family dieties and temples are still Buddhist even today. They may have become Hindus just to hob nob wit the Mallas. The Mallas gave new surnames to based on professions. The people involved in arts and crafts that built the beautiful architectures in Nepal Mandal from the Lichavi Period till the Malla period were given the surnames Silpakars, Chitrakars, etc. The Vajrayana Buddhist priests, Guvaju families since the Licchavi period were given Bajracharya surnames, etc. These people are the guvajus, a continuation from the Lichavi period, but only now they had new surnames. Talking about Buddhism, the Mallas crushed Buddhism by eliminating the monks in Buddhism. However, records show they did support the vihars, chaityas, continued supporting Buddhist traditions and the Vajracharyas. But, they diluted Buddhism and Hinduism alike. They mixed Buddhism with Hinduism and Hinduism with Buddhism alike. This weakened pure Vajrayana Buddhism in Nepal Mandal. Buddhist tantrik practice was introduced in Hinduism as well. I was told by a Newar Brahmin (Rajoupdhayay) that the difference between Khas Brahmins and Newar Brahmins is that Newar Brahmins rituals are 50% tantra and 50% vedic, whereas Khas Brahmins rituals are 100% vedic. Thus a considerable influence seems to have come from the Buddhist bajracharyas as well. With the introduction of Kumari from a Buddhist Sakya family but a representation of the Hindu goddess Taleju, the Mallas made a Kichadi from Hinduism and Buddhism confusing the masses. Thus in answering the topic question regarding the need to investigate the dynasty of these Thakuri Kings in Nepal Mandal by A. Karki the answer is the Thakuris mentioned by early historians may not be the Thakuris Bansa known today. The meaning of the word Thakuri implied something else, elder, leader, etc., just like the word Thakoo which has no Bansa or clan references made to. However, at that time they were all Buddhist slowly disintegrated by Hindu rulers or who became Hindu rulers later.
@katb50074 жыл бұрын
@@rajeevhada1094 Fully agree that Newar civilization was infact enriched by peoples of diverse racial and ethnic groups with their different religious practices mainly Hinduism and Buddhism. They created a syncretic culture that survives to this day. In this same light there was also a strong bond between the rulers of the khas kingdom and the Buddhist kings of the valley during the Thakuri dynasty. Khas kings had contributed to the preservation of Mahayana Buddhist heritage of Nepal Mandal.
