Hello Erin, beautiful rattos! Welcome to the rat club! The cage is okay for two rats if you let them free roam a lot. The size wouldn't be okay by German standards, but is completely okay by Czech for example. It's also super easy to just put the whole cage into a bath and shower it when you clean it, which saves a lot time. I recommend getting only plastic toys including the wheel because it will smell like hell and it's really hard to get rid of the smell. If you want to keep it, one way is to paint the toys with kid safe paint. Trixie makes a big plastic wheel and some of my boys use it. Also get a lot of the linen/fleece houses and hammocks, they just love these. Unfortunately, they will chew it, but that's a good excuse to get even more. Also there are a lot of things in IKEA that can be used as rat toys, so check it out. Have wonderful time with your rattos ❤️

I hope that's a temporary cage. Seems a little small for the two little ones. Although I'm glad to see you are letting them out and not just sitting in a cage all day

I adore rats; they make fantastic pets! They are like little dogs, very intelligent, friendly and trainable. I hope you are adding guys to your little ark!

I thought they had to have a larger cage than that?
@Rosie-hp5jr2 жыл бұрын
They definitely do, my bodys had a 6ft by 3ft by 2ft with free roam and i felt it wasnt enough. Perhaps it is a starter cage, an intro cage as theres not much in it or holiday cage as they'll definitely need upgrading. I'm sure Erin will be soon :)

Wow Erin they're adorable! I have a question: how much does it cost for you to keep all your pets and how do you get all thi smoney because I hope to have a home full of pets too
@ErinsArk2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, the pet care costs can vary a lot each month but in general buying bedding in bulk for instance, foraging during the warmer months & using home grown veggies can save quite a bit. Also, simple toys from plant pots/cardboard/egg cartons/branches/logs etc enrich the habitat without costing much. Of course there are other costs from vet bills (including vaccines etc) and general maintenance, but there are certainly ways to cut costs :)

Hey Erin your rat cage is way to small and they need a lot more enrichment than that they need a large cage that’s has height plus length
