Yup, it’s the whiskers, that’s why they are having such a problem eating next to each other to begin with. This doesn’t look like resource guarding. A different shaped bowl would probably fix this and they’d be able to eat together if their whiskers couldn’t poke each other.

A Young it’s quite a bit more complicated than that for humans. These guys have more than they need of a non-perishable food sitting in a big tray directly in front of them. The sheer distance between the hungry and where the food is grown is a massive problem in and of itself when it comes to people. And that’s *_before_* you consider things like infrastructure, war, famine, international conflict, legal obligations, bureaucratic regulation, potential contamination, and numerous other factors, not the least of which is the constant push to innovate these problems out of existence. The moment we had a surplus, we started devising ways to send it further and further away so others can have access to it. We aren’t hoarding it, we just aren’t at the point where supply chains and infrastructure are robust and cheap enough to get it to everyone who needs it. We aren’t uniquely selfish, just not as advanced as we’d like to be.

My ex girlfriend had rats. They were trained well and in the evening they would run around in the living room while we watched a film. So one day we layed on the couch and 2 of them started a slap fight of epic scale. They ran around the whole room putting those little paws in each others face and even climbing on the rest of the couch to battle each other there. We should've played "Duel of the fates" there for an even more epic atmosphere.

It's weird, because rats actually are better emotionally aware and empathic creatures than humans. People look at them living in messes and scurrying around in streets and call them "dirty" but they're one of the cleanest animals to exist as they will carefully and methodically clean their bodies to stay healthy, but would you rather live in a dump to avoid being eaten or a clearing where death is all around you?

I’ve been getting so many recommended pet rat videos lately and I’m slowly starting to want one. They are adorable and so sweet and chonky and chaotic. They have such big personalities too which I never knew until I started watching these, they are like tiny dogs basically, that can fly half way across the room by jumping if they want. Edit: I’m still deciding but I’ll definitely get two or three if I do decide to get one thanks for the tips!

I's say it was less a slap fight and more a "out of my way," but the way they pushed each other is so cute. when they're happy they do these things called "bruxing" and "eye boggles", usually at the same time but they can't brux while eating lol but bruxing is when they grind their teeth together and make little clicking sounds, and then when they're really happy their eyes literally boggle out of their heads like a cartoon. The first time I was a little worried but when I realized they all did the same thing whenever they were happy I realized it's normal and then it was hilarious, especially some types of rats like dumbo which have bigger rounder ears lower on the sides which gives them this adorable dobby house elf sort of head shape and then they boggle and you just lose it, it's the silliest thing. Also interesting fact I learned, it's actually a healthy trait for rats to have big bulging eyes, the more they stick out the better your rat's genetic diversity is and they and their offspring are less prone to blindness also. Plus they're just so silly with their big eyes always staring at you expectantly.

once I introduced a boy and girl rat so they could court each other and the boy was all shy and polite bringing the girl food but she wasn't having it, she jumped up on her front paws and did a literal roundhouse kick into his face, it was one of the most ninja things I've seen a rat do XD also the next time they met she decided she did like him and they had babies, maybe she liked how well he took her kick lmfao

So naturally you would think that oh since the one bottle has a thirsty rat attached to it then the other would see it and be like oh okay I'll just use the other one. Nope!
