Hard work there , dogs and team doing a good job. Farm needs a good bloody clearout maybe a skip or two and a good bonfire. Some expensive looking machinery which the rats will end up chewing through wiring looms etc. Saving the farm thousands.

Sealyhams? I am so thankful y’all in the UK keep breeds and types tighter to their utility-borne origins! Here in America, to find a Sealy afield working would stop my heart! Back when we were hunting dachshunds, we meet a gal a couple hours south of us in Joplin, MO, who earthdog tested Silkys, but other than that…dachshunds and patterdales/fells.

Would the farmer have less rats if there wasn't so many hiding spots?
@danielburgess77852 жыл бұрын
The same thought came to my mind. Farmers who are that slovenly will always have vermin problems.
@KingKaidos101 Жыл бұрын
No, farms have food that rats like to eat. And once they settle down, they multiply like crazy. If the farmer were to remove their hiding spots, it would do nothing. The rats would only create new holes to hide in.

@@KingKaidos101 I've heard that rats are limit OCD (or something like that) and get disturbed by things changing. Could be a strategy - start modifying spaces to disturb them

Love watching your vids - thank you. You've probably been asked this a thousand times (if so, sorry about that), but if there's a terrier breed that you think is best for ratting, what would it be?

Hello there. I live on a farm in the US and I am getting a Sealyham from a breeder here. Sealys are all used as pets and show dogs here, so grooming is rather involved. My question is, in muddy and dirty environments like this, what kind of coat care do you do. Do you clipper and then brush? I am hearing a lot about matting and wearing coats and such, but that’s not practical on a farm. Especially since I would like to do ratting and eliminate moles. What’s the grooming like in a rough and tumble working environment?
