Warren DeMartini is a very underrated guitarist. He doesn't get the recognition he deserves as a true badass. Stephen Pearcy is a great vocalist too. He has a unique voice when you hear it, you know exactly who it is. You mentioned "Lay It Down" which is a gritty, nasty song, but so many others on the Out of the Cellar album are so awesome. Lack of Communication, Back For More, and my personal favorite, Wanted Man are definitely worth a listen also.

Agreed. Not my favorite genre, but so many incredibly talented musicians get overlooked and under appreciated these days because hair metal is one of the only "retro" genres that is looked back upon as silly instead of cool, for most people. I would say Nu Metal has a similar situation, some really great musicians in some bands that just don't get any respect because the mainstream thinks the genre is not worthy of being looked at with rose colored glasses.

TRUE THAT, brother! George Lynch, Jake E. Lee, Vito Bratta, Akira Takasaki (Loudness) Reb Beach....to name a few. Warren absolutely sizzles with genius riffs and tasty solos-a highly melodic player who exudes class with his fretwork! EVH was oxygen for me-he is the most "musical" of all guitarists, his melodic sense won't be equaled-he and Jimmy Page. stay safe and great post!

Yes, awesome 80's band. During that time in L.A. These were the bands playing the circuit. GnR, Ratt, Poison, Van Halen, Crue, Cinderella. They all knew each other and a lot of them partied with each other. Slash actually was hired by Poison but refused to do the "Glam Metal" look. In fact right before the audition he walked into a second hand store across the street, saw the stovepipe hat and well.....the rest is history.

I grew up listening to 80s metal, but I cant really listen to much of it anymore, because very few of those bands have stood the test of time & Ratt is definitely one of the few that have. They are one of the few bands with a tone so original that you can listen to one note & know exactly who it is. Well spotted guys 👍

I just want to make sure that ALL Ratt fans pick up the Infestation album with Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot) joining the band-the album is Ratt's heaviest and blew us Ratt fans AWAY! So rockin' and tight, with Carlos being a perfect addition to the band-although no one could actually replace Robbin Crosby, and his rhythm guitar magic! (RIP Robbin). Infestation came out in 2010 and I believe a lot of fans missed it-GET IT AND LIVE A BETTER LIFE!

I've always thought that some of the most known bands had their own thing going on. Crue and Wasp had heavy metal, Bon Jovi had more pop, Cinderella had blues, Extreme had funk etc.
@bravinneff1
@bravinneff1 3 жыл бұрын
@@Rosario_Verano I can agree with every one of your band characterizations, but it doesn't diminish in the slightest the long and deep influence of VH over all of them. Nuno Bettencourt (of Extreme) has an extraordinary amount of EVH in him. So does Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi). Mick Mars (Motley Crue) dreamed of having some. Leff Labar (Cinderalla) too. They all did. Almost to the man (+ women, like Lita Ford).

For whatever that bit of trivia is worth to you, lol. Oh, and the model on the cover of Invasion Of Your Privacy (1985) is Marianne Gravatte, who was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month for the October 1982 issue (38 years ago!!!??), then as the 1983 Playmate of the Year. George has a good ear in regards to the tuning. Both Ratt and Van Halen have their guitars tuned down a half-step. It gives a solid blues feel, allows you to play different keys that aren’t easy to achieve in standard tuning, and the strings have less tension which makes bending easier. Fun fact: Coheed and Cambria’s best album IMO (Good Apollo I) is entirely in this tuning, and you guys gotta react to Welcome Home. Absolutely epic🤘🏻

Dimartini had some stylistic similarities with George Lynch (also one of my favorites), but definitely carved out his own niche. Very melodic player who used his shred abilities judiciously. Also a master of weaving major and minor patterns over chord progressions that made those kind of shifts. Lay it Down is a great example. Very memorable solo with simple yet catchy lines and reserved use of high speed phrasing.
