Don Dokken in his prime right here, didn't miss a single high note and didn't alter the melody to avoid some of the highs like he normally did in 1987
@gabrielbrouwer Жыл бұрын
In 87 it was also harder for him to hit the notes because they started using standard tuning instead of tuning down.
@lrn_news9171 Жыл бұрын
@@gabrielbrouwer Oh fuck I actually didn't think about that, BFTA was recording in standard tuning yes

I've seen George lynch twice, when they were the opening act for Judas "I Bow to Rob" Priest and in a small club when he was with Lynch Mob. I was third row he was soloing on an acoustic guitar his pick flew out of his hand landed on my shoulder! I have it in my wallet to this day. "You're a mean one Mr. Lynch"

Dude I would keep that pick ona shelf! I’ve lost wallets before

Wow. He actually nailed the ending high notes.
@johnniec28615 жыл бұрын
He always could in the early career he had surgery on his vocal cords i believe for liesions or something . but dont quote me on that . but he even admitted he can tell. He will never have that high range any more. It put too much stress on his vocal cords

Wow. Mick Brown using traditional grip, playing drums in DOKKEN in 1986.....REALLY odd for a "Rock band" from ANY era. Cool stuff. Thanks for the vid of a great band in a great era!

Extra special: Lynch is playing the Appetite For Destruction amp on this tour. Later he had to give it back to the rental company Slash got it from. The 1987 stuff sounds thin in comparison.
@chabomorphosis Жыл бұрын
Rick Allen from Def Leppard had that grip too until he lose his arm.
@jamescon55 Жыл бұрын
@@chabomorphosis Yeah, "traditional grip" for jazz style music etc. Otherwise? It's pretty useless when playing ANYTHING on the "R-n-R/METAL style" FTMP.... THAT'S WHY NO ONE "in the scene" uses it....Matched grip for the heavier stuff NO doubt 😏🥁🤘🔥🤘

I really thought the lighting for this show was very poor quality. I saw an interview with George Lunch saying when they played Detroit it was a low point for him. He sounds pretty good here I think. The rest of the band does too. I just wish the lighting could have been better. I like to actually see the band if I'm watching a video. Don really has good vocal range here!!! Just wondering what did Jeff Pilson do after he left the band? Also did the drummer,"Mike Brown"(I think that's his name) stay with Don and Dokken or did he go too?

Are talking about during the 1989-94 hiatus?

Another thing I like about these guys is that they're "dancey"!💃🕺 Moreso than RATT!🐀 No offense to Juan because I think he's got some good dance moves!!! I'll bet he did them good when he played with Dokken too.🐀🕺 Maybe it's a ,"chick" thing but I like to be entertained the band besides the music!🙂🙃😉👍👏

@@karenmonson9893 Ratt were pretty "dancey" themselves especially in the earlier days. Not so much when the internal problems started happening. But a good example is the Tokyo 1985 show. Watch that whole thing. I know the quality is bad but you'll really see the true essence of Ratt 'n' Roll in that video. Of all the videos I have, that particular one shows off Ratt in their absolute prime. Full energy, choreography, and just on top of the world. Hope to see your comment on that video soon. Enjoy!

@@MetalMaster101 I started getting interested in them as a band when Invasion of your Privacy "You're in love" came out. I knew about Round and Round but it wasn't on my radar back then like, "You're in Love"! This is their #1 and my favorite song of theirs. I was not all that familiar with their earlier stuff till later on. Way Cool Junior is not on my top list of their songs anymore either. I like other songs they do better. I also like live stuff better then videos. You are right when you say the internal fighting affected their "dancyness"! It can't be easy to get out there on stage and do a show with people you really aren't liking that much. I'm just glad they were able to put their differences aside when they did that last tour and when they performed live. They kept it professional,did the job and it was all about the music!!! I like that about them among other things!(ha,ha)!😏😉

@@karenmonson9893 Same here. I had all their CD's. But it wasn't until I popped in Invasion of Your Privacy, and hearing the opening riff of "You're in Love" that really got my attention. That crunchy riff was ear shattering and I was hooked. Every track after that was killer too. I loved Dancing Undercover also. Seeing "Body Talk" in Golden Child with really cool. At the time I didn't know who the band was, but I thought they looked so awesome. I'm not too crazy about Reach for the Sky either, but it's Ratt. So that album still has some solid songs I enjoy like "What's it gonna be", "Bottom line", City to City", ect. But yeah, check out that Tokyo 85 video. There are cool parts where you see the guys do some synchronized dancing. The reaction from the Japanese crowd is great too. You can tell how great of a show it was even through the horrible video quality.

Lynch could shred, but Dokken had nothing on Priest as far as tunes go. Pretty sure they weren't intimidated.
@breakingthelaw79742 жыл бұрын
@@funkster007 c’mon every Dokken tune is catchy and they all have better solos which are faster and more melodic, they are also played with greater emotion than any of the priest solos. Dokken also had great Vocal melodies and great drumming. The bass playing is also good but the real thing with Jeff pilson is that he can play bass and keyboard plus he is a great vocalist. No hate on priest because they are great but Dokken had it all.

I really wish Don didn’t do the cheesy air drumming! 😬 Great vocals by both Don and Jeff, (and “Wild” Mick!) though. And George’s tone?! 🤯

It’s not him Being a jerk he is just a little shy when it comes to his soloing, he is actually a really humble and nice Guy just watch any interview with him.
