Heard the Tautumeitas version of this song performed a few years ago. I have to say that their version, more than this one, expresses the lament of a young woman who loved her servant but declined his marriage proposal. She then learned that he recently married another and she regrets her decision of favoring class distinction over love. (Her life was probably more comfortable but phony).😢
