RAUH-WELT Portland Build #3 - Porsche 993 | 503 Motoring Reservoir Dog | FULL SCREEN EDITION (4K)

Akira Nakai - San returns to Portland Oregon for his third build! The car is a 1997 993. It has a Rothsport built 3.8 with upgraded gear box. Wheels by Vossen, Tires by Nitto, Exhaust by Borla, suspension by KW, seats by Bride, headlamps by The RetroFit Source. Paint and body by Sandy Auto Body. And of course assistance and preassembly by 503 Motoring. This is my first RWB build i have ever filmed! It is truly an amazing experience seeing a master artist create his art in person. He is one of the most modest and insanely-hard working craftsman. He builds each and every RWB Porsche and ensures quality by controlling nearly all the variables, all the way down to installation. He circles the globe several times a year, Nakai- San visits garages, homes, and events installing his kit on any variety of 964 or 993 Porsche 91. I look forward to filming more RWB builds!

F Z if I were having an RWB build, it would be a closed invitation. If I wanted pictures taken I would hire a professional photographer so me and my party could just enjoy what’s going on and let the single photographer do their thing so there’s not a bunch of people tripping over each other with phones and camera ruining the scene.

I feel badly for Nakai-san. If I had the means to have him build a car for me, I'd firstly ask him how he wants it to go down, and what I can arrange to make his experience the best that I can. Its called being a good host. Unless he would be offended by a lack.of people around; Id have myself, my wife and like 3 others maaaybe. THEN Leave him alone and let him do him and what he does. Also I'd let him choose the color, wheels, and body package. I'd give inputs as to what I sorta like, but HE is the artist, not ME. The experience is about him, not myself. The art (car) at the end is for me to then share with everyone else.

Someone brought one of his builds to the Petit LeMans in 2016. It was one of the most amazing builds I have ever seen. It was parked next to gt3 and no one was interested in that one. All cameras and eyes were on the RW...so so sick

Here's the thing. If he actually built proper cars, not one person would comment. But he doesn't. Those cars have zero value to any person who knows what a car is. Want an actually good car? Go in Italy, ask around central and find the guys who build proper cars, not this hack who butchers the car and leaves raw metal inside. This isn't a good product, this is a good business. I'm an Icar gold certified collision repair tech. The ONLY thing he did wrong on this build was leave the cut edges exposed, which will almost certainly be fixed later as this was a timed build. And the fact that he builds these cars by eye and they come out straight every time is dam near a miracle. This guy is a journeyman, or master body tech. If you think otherwise you've either never done the work or you simply lack respect.

Uhhh thats a non numbers matching 993 and its not even a Turbo S, there's about a dozen of them if them on my local Craigslist as we speak. They roughly trippled the value of that car. RWB Porches regularly sell for well over a hundred thousand dollars. And btw, how many people agree with you doesn't mean a single dam thing, facts do. And the fact is the car is worth much more now. Even if you don't like it. 🤷‍♂️

Icar Gold certified collision repair tech here. What you see as "hacking" is actually probably one of the most skillfully performed tasks you've ever watched. He does each of these cars entirely by eye, and they turn out dead straight and level every single time, that is dam near miraculous. Most guys that have been in the industry for 30 plus years still would not be able to do that. As far as his installation methods, cutting the fenders and whatnot, that's just how you install a widebody on any car. Kemmerer did it the exact same way on their K3 Porsches back in the 70s.

The raw metal was covered later, this was a build on a time limit. And as far as the rest goes, I'm an Icar gold certified tech and I can tell you he is in fact an artisan. He does each of these cars entirely by eye and they turn out dead straight and level every time. Ill tell you right now most guys that have been in the industry for thirty or even forty years could not pull that off. As far as his assembly methods, cutting fenders and using screws. Thats just how you put a widebody on a car, any car. Kremmer did it the exact same way on their LeMans winning K3 911s back in the 70s. The only other way to do it is to mold the panel in or use pop rivets, both of which make it exceptionally difficult to replace a panel in the event of a crack, which is extremely likely for a car that sees any track time.
