Perfectly Rated. For me Chennai is better than banglore because of The Beaches and Cinema. But banglore is better with Climate and Living standard. Chennai surely not underrated and i don't know why people think that. In South chennai and banglore is the most famous cities and Movies and All romanticized these cities More than Hyderbad or kochi. In reality all these 4 cuties from from states have Their own unique quality. So definitely chennai is not underrated, it is perfectly rated or in some case it is overrated. I mean comon the city is not clean

I appreciate your view. You missed one of the most important uniqueness of Chennai - it's urban forest. "The Guindy National Park". I have visited several metro cities in different countries and never seen thousands of deer living inside the heart of the City. "The Guidy National Park - Snake Park - Children's Park and the nearby Birla Planetarium - Gandhi Mandapam" a perfect budget-friendly weekend getaway. Also, Vandaloor Zoo - the oldest and largest zoological park in India. Unfortunately, these two Landmarks are the most underrated places within Chennai.

Born and brought up in Chennai. Moved out in 2005 to Bangalore. Still miss Chennai, especially the fast-moving traffic and the awesome public transport. Or rather Madras. For me, it is still Namma Madras. And the cosmopolitan neighborhood in Anna Nagar!! Feel there is a lot more of casteism in Bangalore, or perhaps it is just the people I move with.

I had Muslims, Christians, and Hindus from all castes and regions as neighbours. My house in Bangalore is in Banashankari, and I don't have a single Christian or Muslim neighbour on my entire long road! And when I talk about any friend to my relatives, one of the first questions asked is which caste they belong to!!

@@malathygarewal1750 You should probably consider changing your perspective that Friends are Friends irrespective of what caste they are and move on by answering to your super old century relatives who are asking this as , “I don’t know and don’t care what caste they belong to. They are my great friends “. We live in these years where life is uncertain for many and with approaching World war, where this caste is never a factor and we the youngsters should try to bring about this change starting within our family. No offence here, but just my opinion. It’s not the problem with Bangalore Banshankari, but more with your relatives mindset. Good luck then with your relatives questions, in case if they ask again.

I think the sentiments of love, freedom and harmony in chennai and Tamil Nadu as a whole has a lot to do with its history and the kings who ruled over us. Tamil has always been a connecting factor amongst all religious communities, roots of Tamil is very deep. Being conservative is not the correct word, rather Tamil people are very rich in their values and principles.

My mom is from Madurai and grew up in a muslim neighbourhood. The muslim identity in TN & Kerala has been one of a Tamil/Malayalam identity; being their mother tongue. However that can't be said for muslims in Karnataka, Maharashtra etc. All these factors contribute to communal harmony, and in a way TN & Kerala are lucky in hindset to have had a sound history of it (for the most part)

I think you missed about the cognitive, industrial strength of Chennai. Plus we adopted English way back since our leaders noticed its potential. Tamilnadu's mass education system is far far better than other education system in the country (having studied in CBSS and moving to TN syllabus made me realize it). Chennai is more connected to SE Asia than other cities, historically and by modern transports. I think most points you mentioned in above video makes a city shiny, but Chennai is livable and prosperous and not shiny. Regarding startups, its just a gamble, we people in Chennai create businesses that makes profits from the first month.

The better part of remaining underrated is that it'll get saturated little late. With all respect and love to Bangalore, I feel it's linguistic/cultural aspects are slowing fading. Like it's mentioned in the video, I have seen people criticizing Chennai for being conservative. I believe the city still manages have it's so called Madras pulse resonating in people's hearts because of it's non-suffocating conservative nature. I was neither born nor living in Chennai currently. But, I have spent a considerable amount of time there. And here, I have shared what I felt at heart and I can be very much biased.

Chennai has already been the best city in India >was ranked the best city in India by India Today in the 2014 annual Indian city survey. In 2015 Chennai was named the "hottest" city (city worth visiting and worth living in for long term) by the BBC, citing the mixture of both modern and traditional values. National Geographic mentioned Chennai as the only South Asian city to feature in its 2015 "Top 10 food cities" list.Chennai was also named the ninth-best cosmopolitan city in the world by Lonely Planet. In October 2017, Chennai was added to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) list for its rich musical tradition Once again Indians are very ignorant of their own culture the west has called Chennai the jewel city of India for decades especially if you take crime statistics into play it's far safer than Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata. Also food scene wise its Indian Food Mecca, Tamil food Mecca would be Madurai.

The most safest city for ladies whether it's day or night . Appreciate that . Moved to Chennai in 2012 . Extreme summers and water scarcity are the only two drawbacks , and of course not within our control 😒

Still people call Madras when you go other parts of Tamilnadu , even after so many years since it’s name has been changed to Chennai , if you have grown up in late 80’s and 90’s during old Madras with trees around and while recollecting old memories spent with your friends very nostalgic and filled with emotions , and during madras school days you will not only have friends from your school, but also from other schools which are located in same area, because mostly all will be having mutual friends and usually meet up everyone in playgrounds who would all wear different uniforms , wonderful moments .

Well analysed. Other cities have expanded their metro area. Chennai has less metro area. That's why in GDP its lower than other cities.
@krishnamohan2

I think you are wrong. Chennai people are not preferring metro because chennai has a well established local trains , buses , share autos . Comparing to that why would someone prefer metro which is costly as well . That's why metro is in loss and they don't want extend metro further .

Pondy bazaar idea sounds so nice, every city in India, be a metro or just a normal one, always has a congested market space with thriving economy. I personally hated going to such places as a child coz of the congestion but Pondy bazaar's take is interesting.. I would want this to be implemented in every city of India
