It's more interesting to look at character development. In the first season, she is just a child who is afraid of her powers. In the second season, she is calmer and understands her powers better. Well, in the third, she has matured a lot, controls her powers, calm and reasonable. I think in the fourth season it will fully comply with the canon.

Nah. Agatha's is (was?) completely borrowed from the Darkhold - she just didn't know it. Her 'black magic' is her innate power as a child of Trigon (an Old God). Much as Wonder Woman has her own power set as a 'child' of an Old God. Only Raven is much more in tune with her magic in non physical terms than Wonder Woman ever was as far as I can see owing to her training with Constantine and the fact that Wonder Woman channeled her godly power into strength and speed.

I’m not gonna lie I’m really disappointed in this interpretation of raven. Ravens soul self is not some disgusting looking liquid goo the most accurate portrayal of her powers is in the animated teen titans. Her power is unbrakinesis she has access to darkness and shadow manipulation like the shade from dc comics. Yeah like imagine that scene in a Marvel show. Seriously, what is it? Dark matter, energy, her soul…? It looks like shadows but Gar described its touch as feeling like” razor blades.” I’ve been watching the show from the beginning and I still don’t know for sure.
