She knows how to square off when off balance. That leaves the defence typically in a bad position to stop the shot. We may see Raven draw more fouls. Dawn tends to train the guards to look for that big post play. As you noticed, Raven is a heads up guard. This year, I expect to see improvements in the weak areas.

This is gonna be the point-guard from this class to get the most play-time above pick 5(aka after valk pick) Great defense, ready for the WNBA and can probably help with play-making once main PG sits down. She would be great on a team to learn from Veteran PG New York and Lynx both can use such player,to develop and use for defense , she can play off-ball too. All Raven has to do this season shoot better from fg and 3, keep or get better on defense & passing, and she is lock top 10 pick immo , if she shoots the 3 better and improves her ability to finish through contact and drive & kick she could easily go 4-7 range.

Do you know just how many potentially GREAT guards are coming out in 2025, a TON. I would draft Raven, but not in the First Round. But that hardly means she isn't a Starter from Day 1 in this league of Subpar Guards. That's what makes the 2025 draft so good, most of the starting Guards in the WNBA really aren't that great. And or nearly leaving the League as they are over 30 one ever being over 40 and some almost as old. The Youth are about to TAKE over.

1 of my fave players. Casual boxscore fans don't get her true impact on a game. I disagree w/ur rating only bcuz PG is arguably the least talented position in the WNBA. IMO Raven & Olivia can run a team & will be starters by year 2. Raven is a below avg shooter but N Cloud is a career 30% 3pt shooter yet is considered a top tier PG. IMO that's Raven's arc. Then again, I'm not objective abt Raven 🤷🏾♂️

She is the quintessential point guard. She doesn't shoot well but that isn't the only way to affect the game. She is a great passer, and for her size she can rebound well. At USC she doesn't drive too often because they usually have the multiple advantages on the court. Hence no reason to force the issue. She can be Dijonai Carrington. Right now she'd be better than any guards on the Chicago Sky

@Mr..G28 күн бұрын
As an honest South Carolina fan, what I have concluded concerning Raven Johnson is basically identical to your own findings. Her defense is superb, her passing is good and her shooting while improved is still average at best. Her mechanics which features a pull motion are certainly not ideal, and a 61% free throw average is quite humbling for a point guard. I actually don't believe she will ever be more than a C level scorer with inconsistency from the three. Reverting back to assists, her average was bolstered by lobs to 6' 7" Kamilla Cardoso. Now with her absence, it will be interesting to see how it affects her numbers if at all. Additionally, although she has foot speed when dribbling on a straight trajectory, that's not exactly the case when moving through traffic or at angles as she does not have an effective crossover. In conclusion, I don't think Raven will ever be anything more than a situational/ role player in the WNBA. One other thing: I was ok with the grading scale up until the point I heard, *"An 80 grade is me saying you're going to be a perennial MVP caliber player like A'ja Wilson, Caitlin Clark."* They are not the same caliber player, my friend. One is clearly the best player on the planet, and has already proven to be consistent and proficient in every phase of the game including *"defense."* The other has clearly not. I think someone like Brianna Stewart would have been a better example, but great evaluation nonetheless, my friend. †

@@thejesterofhate9984 slow down sir. I’m a Gamecock loyal fan. She’s a decent college guard.. bottom line. She’s not even the best guard on her team. CC isn't an 80 grade mostly because she isn't a GREAT One on One Defender. She's a Volume scorer that also gets rebounds mostly due to her size advantage. Olivia Miles who is 2 inches shorter, stated as much as being her own advantage over opposing Guards. Raven Johnson is a Starter in the WNBA, not some Bench slash Role player. Her problem for next year's DRAFT is that a ton of better players are also coming out, especially in the Guard position. She can be taught to score better you can't teach a 6'2" wingspan on a 5'8" guard.
@clampsgiveup9235Ай бұрын
When u are the system, you are an 80. Having a point guard who can score and playmake at an elite level is something that is not normal in the W. In one season, she was arguably the best point guard in the league. I’m not that high on Raven. She is definitely not a starter. A player who can only play defense is ok. But a point guard who can only play defense and will be a liability on offense doesn’t move me. Hopefully she gets drafted to a good development team. I think people are overrating her actual skill set because she comes from a winning program

@@clampsgiveup9235 In the NC state game Raven shot better from 3s then sharp shooter teammate Te-Hina Paopao. In the Finals, Raven shot 1/11 from the field.
