A splendid job mate, so strange that pressure related problems are so overlooked this days. What I also discover lately is blocked hoses and the hole inside the heat exchanger to let the condensation water flow away to the siphon aren’t flushed out either by other engineers with you can see bye the dark colour of the back isolation part at the back of the exchanger . Why don’t they just flush it out with some water purging in to it and see how it’s flowing away? Standards are getting lower and machines are getting more complicated, not a good situation I guess. Still... top engineer where i learnt a lot from, as from Alan Hart and a few others.

You only need to be GasSafe registered if you are working for _gain_ - i.e. making money. If you are not working for gain you can work on gas appliances legally - for yourself and others. The proviso for both GasSafe registered and not, is _both_ have to be *competent.* That is, the *results* of your work, not a certificate.
@HeatingGeek5 жыл бұрын
I completely agree.

@@HeatingGeek I gave the _law._ The law is very misunderstood. Most do not understand the word _competent._ There are thousands of retired men out there who are more than _competent,_ however who have no GasSafe certificate. Many are _competent,_ maybe ex gas engineers who are now in other professions. I know engineers, the designers, who do not use tools working in offices. These guys are not GasSafe registered, but more than _competent._ These _competent_ men do not keep up their GasSafe subscriptions, as they do not work _hands on_ in gas equipment.

I have a Vaillant ecotec Plus in my house. However Vaillant boilers are delicate so unless the system is as clean as a whistle it will have problems. If I had a rental property I would fit whatever was cheaper amongst the lower priced brands with the best warranty. Boilers all use the same parts now so it doesn't really matter. @@joebrennan.4389 They are ok. Good with debris but not easy to work on (They are improving this). I wouldn't replace it if I bought a house with one in. The Ri was my choice of heat only boiler because of the noise the 4 series Vaillant made. I wouldn't fit one but can't tell you why. This might be controversial: Vaillant = Rolls Royce for ever. Delicate Worcester = Toyota Hylux for 7-10years. Tough until its not Baxi = Mondeo. Will go on for a long time if looked after. Ideal = Astra. Cheap. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Another excellent video mate !the tell-tale signs were there of air in the system! Also did it have air pressure in the Expansion vessel ? It seems like it’s still got the original red factory paint around the shrader cap? You’re a great engineer mate it’s always a pleasure watching you ,I’m down in Brighton on the south coast and you don’t see many boilers properly repaired any more they just seem to condemn anything and quote up for a brand-new boiler I’ve seen it too many times even on very minor faults on a 2year old boiler, some of the bigger companies are worse and won’t even attempt to repair

As an NICEIC registered electrician it's the same with consumer units, anyone can buy them. Knowledge is power, if you know your stuff you will be in demand. I know a few heating engineers and whenever I have a problem with my Ravenheat they just want to put a new boiler in. I won't let them. My mother in-law has had more problems with her Worcester boiler than my Ravenheat and they are the same age. I have often thought of doing gas course but just get an engineer in for any gas. Fault finding boilers would be my forte but I'll stick to electrical. I'm sure the grass is greener and with the price of some spare you could soon come unstuck.
