Raviji's playing is reservoirs of knowledge. To understand it one requires a radical mind. If u play da ra instead try da dir rada da. The text becomes a note by itself. It's like each note is chord. But such complexity is blended into melody. Perfect example is raga Rasia.

This raag Bairagi Todi is primarily Bairagi with an addition komal Gandhar which differentiates it from Bairagi and makes it Todi ( Ni, Sa, Re, Ga).I have come across reference of this raag in Sangeet Karyalaya Hathras issue some fiftten years back. It carried a bandish with notation set to taal Jalad ektaal with its author being Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. This a is piece of infomation which i would like to share with all music lovers. Lastly Pt. Ravi Shankar has rendered this raag with all its beauty and splendor at the age of 92. My pranam to Pt.ji.

BHANU JOSHI Raag Bairagi was created by Panditji around 1949. This was followed by his creating Raag Bairagi Todi somewhere in the late 70's.

Instrumental music is always at a disadvantage in both systems of Indian classical music, Hindusthani & Karnatak, compared to vocal. But Panditji brings it as close as humanly possible. In this raga the Bairagi component is predominant and you see only glimpses of Todi. A beautiful rendering.
@Trex08919 жыл бұрын
Actually the nomenclature is somewhat misleading. The other raaga apart from Bairagi here is Bilaskhani Todi, which honestly has nothing to do with Todi proper save for its structure. An ingenious blend though from Shankar as the contrasting thaats (Bhairo for Bairagi and Bhairavi for B.Todi) seem to integrate quote seamlessly.
@sumanthhegde5368 жыл бұрын
+Krishnaroop Chakrabarty Indeed ! There is another recording from Ustad Vilayat Khan for Bilaskhani Todi (NCPA Archives perhaps).
@barendschipper7 жыл бұрын
Whichever music is never at a disadvantage in any system wherever, since it is only in the unloving ear of the comparing mind that such a 'thought' emerges. No loving parent could choose for one child above the other. It accepts the lovely appearance of human being as it is and marvels when it throws itself with all it has in into a game of its choice... With all respect, we all write something we later come to regret sometimes. In our enthusiastic temperament we music lovers can be impulsive... With love and respect for Mr. Vyas Kuchibhotla.

GURU SHISYA (Teacher Student) relationship has no barriers - Are all these religions a creation of GOD - Sure Not. EVERY THING IS GOD, why we worry hidu or muslim or christian or jew or ..... - The trouble in this world started since the time of so called modern religions - Before that this world had full of people who only understood everything as a way of life and their ultimate aim was peace and self realization.

Don't tell me you find your comment more pertinent, because it's not... If at least you were trying to explain your own point of view, but just telling something or someone is dumb is a little bit short. And if you could explain also why all religion are peaceful except Islam? I'm curious to know your source. ^^ Kind regards

Is it true that Pt. R. Shankar's guru was Muslim, while he himself was Hindu, and religion was never an issue between them? Is that just a dumb story that some dumb hippy told me, or is there a grain of truth to it? (i don't trust Wiki or Google, I want to hear the truth from other people, not some broken-down machine that was only invented recently)... to me, if it is true that this genius spanned religious differences, then we have nothing to worry about; if it is nothing but a happy story, then I apologize, but maybe someday it could come true... I have hope.
@SruthinLal8 жыл бұрын
Yes it is true. And it is a normal thing in North Indian classical music. Muslim musicians are usually titled Ustads and Hindu musicians Pandits. Both keep up the Hinustani music tradition, which in fact is based on Hindu philosophy and mythology. Ustads praise Hindu gods and goddesses in their music just the way the Pandits do. And Pandit Ravishankar's first wife was his teacher Ustad Allauddin Khan's daughter.
