From a percussive background I always find the good tapping percussive spots on rav or handpan, you don't have to be a drummer but the more percussive abilities u have the more u will get out of the inst.adrian, kabeo, dave kucherman, good examples, just my opinion, yes keep creating if u don't have these abilities, it's good for your soul, blessings

Well said; good guidance. I think I lean toward the melodic, but of course there's rhythm inherent in that. So happy I discovered this instrument; please keep sharing with the rest of us!

I think that the RAV drum is nicely positioned between percussive and melodic styles of play. I like the melodic more, which is easier, because each drum comes with its harmonic scale.

At the moment I love melodic patterns combined with a rhythm . Especially on a Vast 1 this works good. "Melodic drumming" ;-) ? I love the rhythms because after a while you get into a sort of rhythm-trance . Great distraction from thinking too much.

And definitely melodic !!

There is some really good advice here. Don't ramble, have a pattern (rhythmically or harmonically). It holds interest.

I actually have a harder time playing rhythm on the rav, I always lean toward melody

I love both styles, coming from a wind instrument backround I play more on the melodic side.

It feels like there’s more structure with melody rather than just some beats and rhythm kinda like you remember lyrics or enjoy songs more when they have a nice melody (personal opinion)
