Most likely pure soy sauce. Since the soy sauce helps prevent and kill bacteria/parasites, it needs to be very strong.

It's boiled in a pot with aromatics, seasonings, and some water, then set aside to cool before pouring it over the crabs in a container. The container is covered and set in the fridge for a few days to let the crabs marinate, usually around 3 days. If the soy sauce isn't diluted, the results can be very very salty. You could counteract this by marinating it for less time, but risk the marinade not penetrating the flesh entirely

⁠@@ThePotionMaster413it’s actually on the contrary 😅. Soy sauce itself has more sodium than people realize so its actually a diluted marinade made with other aromatics depending on region. Theres many recipes depending on what cuisine youre feeling and they all taste very different but slightly similar feel to it. Like eating different varieties of apples or oysters. The taste is different but it has ghe same feel
