As always, thanks for sharing. Great video and strong ride. Still can't believe how quickly you guys ripped that first section. Serious skills. I lost so many spots there but enjoyed the back half which was mostly climbing . . . way less stressful. VERY interesting course! Most technically challenging BWR course by far.

Sick 🔥 I was going at a snails pace compared to you, but I rode out here in August. I didn't know there was an event there. I only rode 40 miles as the temp as reaching 103 that day. Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats! Remember, there will always be people like me dreaming and wishing to be in every adventure. So we live it through your camera lenses. Mind to share what you use to hold your camera on chest tight inside your jersey? Thanks, and keep pedaling!
@jgoettl2.0Ай бұрын
Thanks watching and for the kind comments! For the camera, I start with a super thin base layer, then I use an old go pro chest mount (the new one has thick padding I don’t like for putting it inside the jersey) and be sure to mount the go pro upside down and tilt if forward so it’s close to horizontal. (I still mess this up a little sometimes, for downhills you need to tilt it a bit more up as your body becomes more horizontal) I then zip my jersey up to the mount, and just use small pins to close the jersey above the mount. Camera settings for my Go pro 12 are 1080p x 60fps to save battery, then I film in superview with hypersmooth auto boost on. I also change batteries a few times during the race, they last around 1hr20mjn each!

Congrats! I am french, and, i watch regularly your videos. Today, i have the impression that you are in a bit of trouble on single-tracks in the corners. You ride with Pirelli Gravel H. What do you think?
@jgoettl2.0Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! This race is unlike most others in that it is incredibly slippery with loose over hard and not much for berms in the McDowell single track. Last year it had rained before so my tires worked fine, this year that had no rain for a long time leading up, so they were not good. I will come back next year with more tread and probably 50’s!

Super strong, congrats on the great result. I’ve signed up for this race on 2025, I’ve got 40mm or 45mm tires. What do you recommend? Thanks.
@jgoettl2.0Ай бұрын
@@steveouwerkerk7719 45 for sure! and run them at a pretty low psi. Its not a very rocky course, but very slippery! I might run 50’s next year and will be going for something with more tread!

eat & drink as much as you can take in...your hydration & nutrition seems really far apart
@jgoettl2.0Ай бұрын
@@sadverysad1659 I had 100g of carbs per bottle with 4 hand ups from my wife to equal 6 total bottles and 600g carbs. Add in 1 gel (23g carbs) per hour and you get roughly 120g carb per hour assuming I didn’t quite finish some of the bottles over 5.5 hours. Yes, there were some long stretches where you could not take your hands off the bars, so I took bigger sips between those sections. Nutrition CAN’T be an afterthought if you want to do well at these long races!
