As exciting as always Schaaf. Love those Austrian chalets reminds me of the ski resorts. The scenery there looks rather similar to parts of Scotland. I hope to make a road trip next summer, Austria could be on that list.

This scenery basically is my actual "home territory", this is how it looks whenever I'm going for day trips :) Whenever you see spectacular mountains in my videos you can be sure that I was quite far away from home ;) Just make sure to ride close enough to Vienna if you're really going for Austria next summer ;)

That first peg scrape made my spine tingle. I've been missing your videos of late due to them not showing up in my subscriptions tab, but it's sorted now. I'm looking in to getting a 2000 Suzuki GSXR600 SRAD instead on a CB500 for next season as I've always wanted one. When I find the right one at the start of next season I'll be riding it hard and uploading some footage. :D

Great ride! Makes me wish we had scenery like that here in Sydney. On the twisty run I do, the roads are tight and I'm always worried about Kangaroos jumping out in front of me haha. Would love not to worry and go as hard as you do. But i'm still learning. Love the videos.
@Schaaf11 жыл бұрын
WinonaRider thanks a lot!! We only have jumping deer here but I already had 3 close encounters with these crazy bastards in 4 years of riding. One even decided to go for collision with my front wheel. Thankfully it was a little one and both of us didn't crash! By the way I'm constantly worried about my riding. But as soon as I'm actually riding my Honda, all the worries are gone. I wouldn't ride if it didn't work for me like this :)

Keep on riding and eventually you'll get there. Took me 4 and a half years to get where I am now. And there's still so much space left to improve my riding. Ethan Dang It certainly would. I love supermotos. But they were not made for traveling. But I'm not that tough :) Maybe one day I'll be able to afford one as my 'secondary fun bike'

Hi there!! Great riding skills! I've got 2 questions. What LeoVince do you have and what's that steering bar? Did either need further adjustments or are they slip-on???
@Schaaf9 жыл бұрын
+Louloudito thanks! LeoVince SBK Evo 2 (slip on) and 85cm Renthal handlebars. The small black bar you can see in the middle serves no purpose. You can use bars like these with the stock cables but it's a bit of a mess which I don't care about.

Im curios. How does the motorbike season look like in Austria where u live? Can u ride about 7-8 months a year, or 10 months per year, or what?
@Schaaf11 жыл бұрын
depends on how hardcore you are ;) Overall I'd say our season usually goes from mid-March until mid-October. Although this year for example we had to wait until end of May until we finally got decent riding weather. And the winter was extremely long and brought lots of snow as well. I only enjoy riding in nice weather and warm temperatures because only then my tires provide decent grip. Although I usually keep on riding until the first snowfall. Because I have no other vehicle besides my Honda :) But as soon as the first snow falls, our roads get covered in tons of salts by the guys from road maintenance. And salt is very, very, very bad for your bike's paint job and other metal parts. So this is the time were I stop riding and wait for spring to come!

Could I just ask; How is the CB500 for reliability? Modification? - Tyres, exhaust Stability, handling? Riding in wet/icy conditions? Fuel economy. Thanks, any answers appreciated.
@Schaaf11 жыл бұрын
hello Will, the CB is VERY reliable and cheap to maintain. I'm using a LeoVince exhaust which doesn't improve the engine performance. I'm riding on standard Bridgestone BT45 tires. They are excellent. Also in the wet and cold. (at least down to temperatures as cold as ~8 degrees celsius) It's extremely easy and fun to handle. It's stability sucks in fast turns. (you can see how the CB starts to wobble in faster turns. Starts at ~100kph. You need balls to ride her fast at higher speeds) My quick riding consumes anything between 6 and 7 liters per 100km. Whenever I'm "commuting" I don't need more than 5 liters/100km. Check out my walkaround video for more information: 1994 HONDA CB 500 WALKAROUND
@willrt171111 жыл бұрын
Schaaf Thanks! That's really helpful. I'll check out your video. I might get one as a first 'big' bike, after my A2 licence (up to 47bhp license in the UK). Obviously I'll need a limiter as I think the CB500 is a 57bhp bike to start with. Then I can de-limit it later without buying a newer, more powerful bike. I would also like to customise it over time - would upgraded suspension, (Ohlins or some aftermarket), and other components make this bike better? Would a Suzuki Bandit 600 be a better option? Thanks mate!

Will RT I'm using aftermarket suspension parts too (Wilbers, IKON). Definitely makes a big difference, especially the rear shocks! (IKON) Another must have are steelflex brake lines (front brake only in my case since the rear brake's a drum brake on the older CB500 models) and wider handlebars. I would always choose a light and less powerful 2 cylinder bike over a heavier and more powerful bike with 4 cylinders. I'm all about easy handling. But that's a matter of personal taste ;) (IMO, 4 cylinders only make sense with bigger engines, >1000cc)
