I like the "ugliness" of this video. Shows the struggle and its highly educational on mulitple levels. Here's my question: when youre swimming a jig do you use the "Alabama Shake" exclusively or do you ever just straught swim the jig and if so what make you choose one technique over the other?

Kyle, your statement "back when this lake was good" struck me. That was my home lake from 1980 thru 2008, and it was REALLY good for most of that time. However, the water cleared and the fishing pressure went way up, and the fishing got to the point where you had to wade through a gazillion dink spots to catch a largemouth. It was a shame to watch it decline. Still good to be able to see someone fishing it, and catching some. Speaking of the other boaters, I've seen them skiing across the mudflat, kicking up mud the whole way.

Question, that first dock you fished. Did you check with live scope before you even made a cast? I don’t have live scope and struggle thinking “If no one is fishing this dock, they probably checked and it has no fish”. I basically have quit fishing tournaments trying to save up to buy live scope. Don’t feel I am competitive not having it. Still fish for food and fun but can’t waste money on tournaments till I can compete with the latest technology. Wish live scope didn’t exist. Poor boys don’t stand a chance in tournaments unless it’s a spawning derby.

I always enjoy watching you jig fish. I knew you like to fish fast but it surprised me how fast you were swimming that jig. I am mainly talking about the in between the docks retrieve. I guess you were just considering that dead water and being efficient while going dock to dock. Looking forward to 2024 and without a doubt your my guy! I ain’t saying I don’t like other pros but just saying. My prediction is at least one trophy for the Welchers in 2024!
